There are almost religios fanatics on both sides, so i would consider this banned by the rules :D

No, you're probably right. People have strong opinions on this subject. I will say this much though: I've migrated all of my Apple stuff to Android because I've lost patience for their "It just works" philosophy... Somewhere along the way the correct inflection on that slogan was lost. The correct inflection is "it JUST works", as in "it JUST BARELY works"... I like my Android phone, tablet and how they both connect effortlessly with my home entertainment system via my ChromeCast.

What is an android again? Can someone define it to me please?

An Android is something that is not a phone. Which is actually an appropriate name, because nobody uses phones as phones anymore.

Whether Android is the superior mobile/cell phone OS is less interesting than whether mobile/cell phone manufacturers should be tarred and feathered for forcing their customers to buy newer models sooner than technologically necessary by not making OS updates available for "older" models.

Prices for these gadgets are way too high, their ecological impact during production and especially their disposal too big, to make replacing them semiannually sensible, just to receive an up-to-date OS - not that the newest version of OS were any less prone to security faults, but still ...

An operating system by itself has no value without the software that runs under its control. So, any operating system is as good for end users as good the software is. Sooo, between the two I find little differences. Both offer any service I might ever find useful. Of course, Android is more flexible in some ways, I like my smartphone acts as a flash drive when I need to transfer files to or from it which iOS doesn't allow, as I understand. Apart from that, the choice between the two is a matter of aesthetic preferences.

And that is not true. You are just not allowed to access the system partition however the same is valid for Android.

Has something changed since the iPhone 4s? That was my last iOS phone. Or maybe they have better integration with Macs? I'm on a Windows PC. I've since moved to Android, and one of my favorite features is that I can plug my phone into any computer and it will show up as a USB drive, and I can easily just drag and drop files back and forth with Windows Explorer. My old iPhone had to go through iTunes (or some other third-party app), which was a lot more cumbersome.

Apple just wants you to pay money, I probably would get the XKCD phone if it existed. At least the OS it would have, the iOS home screen and looks but Android customization so it would be like a jailbroken iPhone. Why not do that? I don't know.

No, you don't have to use iTunes, i know it starts automatically but you could disable even that. Instead browse your computer and you will find a iPhone drive where all your photos are stored but you can make a new folder there and store other things also.

Cool, didn't know that. It's been awhile, but I don't recall it showing up at all. I mainly wanted to add mp3's actually, and I remember the solution being you can't do it that way, you have to go through iTunes. Probably I was doing something wrong.

I use the phone on my phone...

he means like, mostly for games, iFunny, that kind of thing. which is true to an extent. Android is basically iPhone with 10,000 times more customizability. heck if you're brave enough you could make your UI look like the iPhone's UI (idk why you would).

It's a lot less "locked down" than iPhone is, more apps (Yep, android has 1.5mil and IOS has 1.4mil apps). the ability to change literally everything about the phone (software wise)

As far as the phone it self goes, Android has a lot more options, screen gestures for calling certain people, like speed dial. (e.g. if i were to draw an L on the screen it'd call 911. that's only on certain Android OS's though.)

The ability to change your android based OS entirely! That's right, you can switch from say CyanogenMod to OxygenOS if you feel like it, from OxygenOS back to CyanogenMod if you don't like it!

You could make a OnePlus One look like a galaxy S6 Edge. it's that customizable.
