1.0.5 is out!!!!! post your fist craft here.

I can't really speak for other people but I've got the feeling those guys & gals with the green bars all filled up, they don't just copy stuff ;-)

No, we reverse engineer and mercilessly steal other people's ideas to make best things even better.

Eh.. I broke mine already. It doesn't fly. One engine gets "occluded"... As soon as you throttle up. Don't have the patience today... Probably intake related or something. A problem for tomorrow.

I just started randomly adding parts and this is what I ended up with... No idea what it's supposed to be or do.

I've been experimenting with seaborne craft in the hopes of attempting the circumnavigation challenge, this is my current prototype.

I'm using the now-hollow structural fuselage as pontoons to keep the engines out of the water, which has let me hit 70 m/s. Interestingly, the wheels being deployed doesn't seem to affect anything, which means that either they don't have any drag in the water, or they always have drag.

Getting it to turn without Rapid Unplanned Disassemblyâ„¢ is still an issue, and other various work to be done, but it's promising.

I think my U-boat has become sentient and has a sense of self preservation. After numerous attempts to keep it from capsizing, I grew tired of its tricks and decided to end it once and for all by bombing it with my P-26. I guess the Peashooter is really my first 1.0.5 craft, since it performed as well as it could against the evil power of the dive capable U-boat.

Even with those stupid outrigger floats, the damn thing won't stay upright!

I'm sorry, boat, but I have to end you. You've gone mad, you'll destroy us all!!! VENGEANCE!!!!!

No Target? What... the hell? Where did it go?

Yeah... It definitely isn't there... Skynet is active!

Very well, if I can;t kill the monster, I will kill the forge from whence he came!!!

Damn. They make these things tough as nails, don't they?

I've gone from listening to the triumphant German marching songs to somber Russian dirges. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go sit in a corner and cry...

Hopefully 1.0.5 is going better for you guys.

Something that might save you some heartache so you don't have to redesign your whole boat is to just adjust the fuel capacity of the lower fuel tanks by editing the craft file.

I played around with this on previous versions of kerbal (not sure if it works the same in 1.0.5) but fuel its self seemed to be denser than water so the more you added to your craft eventually it would sink.

There is no limit to how much fuel a tank can hold, and you could always lower the capacity of other tanks to preserve the same net fuel amount.

Just find the resource section for the relevant tank and adjust it. A tip to easily find a desired tank is to adjust its fuel to an odd amount before saving it then search for that amount.

RESOURCE
{
name = LiquidFuel
amount = 100000
maxAmount = 100000
flowState = True
isTweakable = True
hideFlow = False
flowMode = Both
}

Above is an example of a section in the craft file you will need to edit. Notice this tank will hold 100,000 liquid fuel. The craft is still 100% stock in that the dry weight of the tank is the same and the game calculates the extra mass of the increased amount of fuel.

Also if you want edit a LOX tank to be only LF then a method I found that works is to set the amount and maxAmount of oxidizer to 0 and then set isTweakable to False.

Hydrofoils work too

I'll have to try making a submarine now, but my first 1.0.5 craft is this 'lil hypersonic arrowhead-style jet (I nicknamed it the Afterburner Overdrive), capable of reaching suborbital space off a straight 45 degree AOA from the runway, or alternatively exploding in the atmosphere from heating. Take your pick. :P

The new inline diverter-less intake seems kinda powerful for high-speed aircraft, at least on smaller ones like the jet above.
