After our first successes of growing lettuces in space, now they are growing flowers! Why? Well, because flowers are a bit harder to grow, so they are trying their hand at it to see if they can keep plant lifeforms alive in space properly. The other nice bonus could also be the great smell!

Although I wonder what this could do to astronauts with an allergy....prob a lot more filters in growboxes

... ... "fauna" ... ... "The farther and longer humans go away from Earth, the greater the need to be able to grow plants for food, atmosphere recycling and psychological benefits," she concluded. "Plant systems will become important components of any long-duration exploration scenario."

Sorry, I should have included a smiley or something to show that I was just making a joke. It's really hard to tell via text.

Space does weird stuff to the immune system of people:
The researchers also found that some cell activity was heightened, and the immune system was having an overly aggressive reaction. This could explain why some astronauts experience increased allergy symptoms and persistent rashes.
So even if there were no serious allergy before, you might get one.
