Is the Scatterer mod worth installing?

I just wanna know if it is worth it to download. I've been eyeing this mod for a while now and I'm not sure if I should download it or not. I want to know the opinion of others who installed it....

Buggy when it doesn't work and beautiful when it does. Your choice. I'd give it a go but if it doesn't work uninstall.

Exactly. It is a impact mod. Just install it and make your own decision.
Scatterer does not add parts so removing the mod is always safe. It will not kill any flights in progress.

Yes it is. What even stops you from installing it, and why wouldn't it be worth it in the first place? It's frickin scatterer, man.

Totally worth it to me. But I can't tell you if it'll be worth it to you.

It impacts fps a bit for sure; but there's literally no risk at all in installing it; you can uninstall it again and it won't affect anything. And it makes the game look so much nicer; I'd say if you're not currently running up against your part limit often; it's worth it. You can always uninstall it again, and it's a small download.

The only problem with scatterer is once you've installed it, you won't want to ever play KSP without it. Especially since the ocean effects were added.  
Sure the ocean has some issues (you can see land below the horizon because of having a transparency in the ocean), but you can tweak a lot of the settings, and anyway the stock ocean's repeating regular pattern that results in lines is just as bad an issue (if not worse & I've not heard any talk about that being changed in the stock game anytime soon)

These two are both with Scatterer and EVE installed, but the left one was before the ocean effects were added, the second pic is with the ocean effects.

@blackrack is doing great things to improve it (and last I saw he intends to get wave interaction working which will be incredible!)

Assuming you have a non-ancient GPU Scatterer is full of win, prettier oceans and atmospheres (for reference I run it on a 660GTX and it runs fine). Some people are having trouble getting it working properly on Linux, so that may be an issue for you.

I'd just try it and see, it is absolutely stunning visually.

( @katateochi Thanks for the mention, but what happened to the aspect ratio of my pic? Odd.)

Edit: People can just click the pic to see the proper aspect ratio.

I set it to have a width of 1000px (so it was inline with the two 500px width images above), but the option to maintain aspect ratio is checked so.......I'ma gonna blame the forum!

@katateochi @Red Iron Crown Picture aspect ratio doesn't get respected if the forum is forced to display the picture smaller than the width you specified. That only works if you don't specify a width

Which translates to most big pictures, where the poster set a width, end up looking weird on small displays.

I maybe a bit biased here, but I'm going to go ahead and say it's worth it (but it's better if you grab that community 64bit workaround and force dx11)

Is there any way I can download it without the wave effects? I think the waves looks kinda weird especially since there's no wave interaction yet.....
