  1. 1. Name KSP 1.3 1.337 when it eventually gets made?

    • Yes! Take advantage!
    • No, it's only one version...

Doom v1.666 would like a word...

Also, TCP/UDP port 666 ;)

But I played multiplayer on null-modem serial mostly. :P

666 for DooM is fitting, 1337 is just a really old "look what I can spell with my calculator"... and "leet" isn't even a word.

I think someone needs to start checking the urban dictionary more often...

When deciding what is and is not a word, I generally use a real dictionary, thanks.
And yes, I (am old enough to) know it was used in the BBS warez scene. That was some 20+ years ago, it was lame then, and it's still lame now.

better instead label it 1.336 because hotfix.

Nah, they're doing silent hotfixes now, probably to save face. It'll likely be download roulette as to what bugs you get, but it'll be the same version number for added confusion.

Sorry I was referring to ME!

Not gonna happen I'd wager.

Judging from this rule, I'm gonna assume Squad wouldn't be too crazy about the idea...lol.

2.4 Language, placement spelling and grammar
  1. Users must make an effort to place a new thread in the right forum section. Posts deemed to be in an incorrect section will be moved to a proper one;
  2. Users must attempt to use proper grammar and spelling in all messages. Txt-speak, 1337-speak and other exclusionary forms of speech are prohibited; and
  3. All messages outside of the international sections must be in English.

Seriously, no. Why would Squad decide to make the version 1.3 "1.337". It will be confusing as hell to talk about version numbers. In my opinion it's a rather childish suggestion, to just suggest some old and beaten down meme as a version number for a game with a reputation.  Not to mention that there is really nothing to take advantage of here, considering any game thing that has reached version 1.3 can do this.

TBH, I don't have a beef with the meme, but rather the misunderstanding of the way versioning works. The dot "." is not a decimal, it's a delimiter. Thus version 1.337 has two components:

  • 1 is the "major" component
  • 337 is the "minor" component. That's "three hundred and thirty seven." It is not "three tenths, three hundredths, and seven thousandths."

Get it? Version 1.337 is higher than  version 1.4, by hundreds of versions.

Version 1.1 is in QA right now. It is doubtful KSP will ever reach 336 more minor versions. The most I ever saw personally was Dark Age of Camelot. It was at version 1.110 around the time I stopped playing.

Since most of the posts in here are along the lines of "hell no" I feel like in addition to my vote I should publicly say I'm in favor of this idea. I don't care about whether or not it's really revision 3 or not, or how "old" the joke is.

And in response to Xavven, why not "1.3.37"? Or "1.3.3.7?"
