Hey no probs. Happy to.

So after spending the last few weeks on this. I wonder whats next.

I might try Eve out. The specs look a bit daunting though.

I might watch some vids of other peoples missions and see what I want to do.

If I send your sub there I will let you know, so you may want to keep tracking this thread.

Cheers

The best part about this, you now have the ability to explore the Oceans there with an endless amount of fuel.

Congratulations on completing this mission I know it wasn't the simplest of task! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for future adventures with you.

Thanks again for sharing it

Hm I just had a thought.

Whilst in the process of sending a miner/harvester to Eve, there is no Oxygen there.

So Scuba Do is not going to work in its current form.

I might look at putting in Aerospikes and changing the tanks. Some serious surgery!

After the refueler I plan to send a small SSTO, then a non orbit plane, and then a sub.

The biggest challenge is going to be the SSTO, so things are not going to go fast.

Sounds like another fun mission! Time is on our side when it comes to KSP so no rush. I have projects I have started over a year ago, I hope to get back working on them but other fun ideas emerge and they stay on the back burners.

I noted that you used fuel & oxidizer tanks so that made life a little easier.

I swapped out the panthers with aerospikes and went in the water on Kerbal.

The aerospikes chewed up the fuel in no time.

Which means that you cannot travel anywhere.

Not good. Any ideas?

While Juno and Wheesley Engines are best for GMP they also require objects that float so this creates a ballast problem. If the planet has no oxygen I would try R.A.P.I.E.R engines for a large Submarine like Scuba Do, not sure if this will work as a good substitute but that would be my first suggestion and the first engine I would test. I don't know if they even work underwater well or if at all, I haven't experimented with these for that purpose.

I tried a Rapier and Aerospike attached to small tanks at Kerbin.

The Rapier on closed cycle produced 162 kn for 40 seconds and the Aerospike 154kn for 43 sec.

Not a huge difference and the Rapier weighs twice as much as the Aerospike.

I read some threads which recommended the Aerospike for sea level Eve.

Because Eve is not currently in the right spot (2.5hr burn time. eh!), I am sending everything into orbit at once (5 ships so far). Will time warp and then send them off one after the other and hope that they don't arrive at Eve at the same time.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
