  1. 1. So I was wondering, what is your favorite moon in stock KSP and why?

Laythe.

I mean, like, come on. Who wouldn't love a Kerbin-like planet orbiting a green gas giant. Freaking awesome.

Also, RIP Gilly. 0% votes.

Pol. It's hard to get to (thanks for the slingshot, Tylo!) but has very low gravity, a fun appearance, dramatic terrain and awesome, unique towering surface scatter.

By far my favourite moon. Minmus and Mun(the) would be my second and third choices.

Minmus by far to me. I haven't been to any moons other than Mun and Minmus, but I really prefer Minmus. It's pretty, fun to get to, and fun low gravity. Gravity makes it easy to land on, and it gives like 1000 science per mission if you do it right.

I like Minmus too, but the low gravity is kinda annoying if you want to put a rover there. I once sent a medium-sized rover there in order to get science from the most biomes possible, and it drifted all over the place. WAY too little friction.

You have a point. I really don't mess with rovers too much, but perhaps I'll get into that more when I start building more advanced surface bases and such.

Also, am I the only one who finds some science transmission things stupid? Why do I get less science transmitting temperature readings? All I'm doing is sending the current temperature outside. There isn't much data to be lost

Ike. Ike is friendly and dependable, whenever you visit Duna he'll always be there for you.

Agreed. Plus the various textures of Ike is interesting, and landing on it is interesting as well.

The friction system is a little weird. Not sure ho a wheeled vehicle would actually p\erform on lower gravity, but I doubt it would slip around all over the place.

I have to go with Pol.  I originally never cared for it, until I finally landed on it one day, and instantly fell in love with the view.  I landed there, and when I saw Jool hanging above in the black sky, surrounded by rock spires as high as my unmanned lander, I had a huge WOW moment.

Gilly, because you can trip over and end up in orbit!

Aren't these bad things?

Yep, until SQUAD decides to add collision boxes to those rocks. Good luck landing.

That'll keep me from using MechJeb's autoland, but the gravity is so low that hovering requires scant delta-v anyways.  All it takes is a little finesse - I try to avoid them as is as I tend to do a little roleplaying in KSP.

I like Minmus because of it's contrast between completely flat regions, steep hills, and bumpy terrain. It's low gravity and small size make it a fun place to explore, and it takes the least delta-V to land and return from out of everywhere else.

After careful consideration, I'm voting for the Mun.
The first to get to (usually).  The one you never forget...
Sometimes friendly to land on, sometimes terrifying.  Or drive over.
Try getting out of a steep crater in a rover, or making it to the poles.
The poles of the Mun are sheer horror.

IMO, the Mun never disappoints...

yes! they are really creepy, but I do like them.  Plus you can setup a base there and have constant line of sight to Kerbin which is cool.

I think I'm also going to vote for Mun.  If I was to count up the numbers of landings on different moons Mun would win by a long shot.  Most landers get a test landing there, it's got a nice gravity for rovering, there's plenty to do there (biome and anomaly wise) and it's got a range of different terrains from nice flat(ish) areas on the equator to really jagged terrain on the poles.....and it has creepy poles!  It's a good all rounder with reasonably forgiving requirements for landing and return to orbit while also not being overly easy.  I think it also earns a special place for being the first ever moon in the game, so yeah; Mun old friend, you get my vote.
