do youtube views on the forum count as views on youtube

So I was checking out my forum posts of my replica/speedbuild videos and I saw that they had quite a bit more views that my actual youtube videos say. I'm just curious does anybody know why or if this is happening or is it some bug?

I would guess forum post views only count if the user actually clicks on the embedded video to watch it.

That would make a lot of sense. Otherwise you could spam views by just making a landing page full of 1000 youtube embeds, then you'd get 1k views every visit

Your guess is correct. Any time the video actually starts playing - no matter where it plays from - it's a view. Just looking at the image with the play button - no matter where you are - doesn't count.

I'm not sure but I *think* that if you stop watching a video midway trough and exit, and then come back to the video and resume watching it (like when YouTube "remembers" where you were) that doesn't count as a new view, which seems fair to me.

I'm still confused as to why some of my posts have much more views ex. 200 when the video only has 50 when the video is the main thing I'm featuring in the post. People are going to click on it if they are viewing it.

You'd be surprised. Some of those could be Google bots indexing the pages, or people returning to view replies, or someone just refreshing the page. Also some browsers try to guess where you're going to go and precache pages. And then there are people who just load every unread page in a forum every time they see it, without actually caring what's in it.

Just by looking at it wont count as a view. You a user should click the video to count view.

Yep it does. I got several hundreds of view on this video but barely any ratings.
