You bros should check out this video about flag design for helpful guidelines and good and bad examples. You should be proud that both of yours are already way better than Milwaukee's. 

Before I choose, should we know anything about the symbolism in these flags? What do they mean to the members of these factions?

This is AE, my flag has the circle in the hexagon, which is based on the First Order flag. The green color is obvious. The lightning bolts represent the power, and the planets on the sides represent our dominance of space. (its true, I have WAAAAY better space assets than him. I have been to 10 clesential bodies, he has been to 2 [kerbin &kerbol].)

I don't know anything about his except red: bloodshed; green: kerbals.

I watched it. Very interesting A kerbal is simple to draw and kerbin & duna are too.

I gotta vote for KS based on the video... the AE flag is too busy and the colors are too similar. Also, if you're going to have overlaying imagery (circle, bolts, and hexagon) they should all be different colors.

I agree overall. The Empire's is more ambitious and its layout feels a bit more pleasing to my eye, but I can more easily imagine the Separatists' design on an actual flagpole. If the Separatists comprise five nations or noble houses with some kind of emperor-god leading their alliance, so much the better.

I voted the KS flag, but I also need to take a moment to thank @HebaruSan for posting that video.  It really got me thinking, so now I've gone and redesigned my own flag (as well as the mission patches for my space program, an example of which is my avatar).

@KSP Bros, please tell us that the actual flags used in-game don't have all those compression artifacts.  If the .png flag you're using in-game for the KS side is clean of them, then I think it'd actually look equally good on the pole or painted on the side of your rockets.

From the design point of view bright Green and Red colors are a bad combination, very hard on eyes. Can only be viable on Christmas. Flags don't like two shades of the same color. Green on green looks bad.

This is AE, and the fact is all he has to do with rockets is getting into orbit. He hasn't landed on any clesential body yet, hasn't docked, so I rule space until he learns this. Yes, we are waging war. I on the other hand, has done all the above, landed on mun, minmus, duna, orbited laythe, jool, tylo, val, bop and pol. On our DMP server, I already set up a powerful base on the Mun. I am planning to go to other planets with permanent bases soon.

I remade it. See it in my signature. I think this version is better. Honestly, I think yours is a bit complicated. If you watched @HebaruSan's video, an important factor is it being easy to memorize and draw. My new one is easy.
