That's not enough ram to run windows 10, let alone KSP. Heck, I'm not sure 7 or 8 would even run on that. My old Vista 32 bit had 4 gb ram.

Needless to say, KSP will not run on that computer. It's basically hitting the 4 gb limit on 32 bit systems practically stock, which is a big reason 1.1 is moving to 64 bit.

Tbh I'd wager rocket was right.. I doubt you've got 1 gb ram. It's likely 1 gb video, not regular ram. It'd have to be a very old machine to have 1 gb RAM. Though.. come to think of it, a 2.2 ghz processor is fairly slow. I think my phone has more power than that, and my several year old PC is at 4.0 ghz. Maybe you do just have a VERY old machine.

Ok first of all, everyone really should know by now that he number of ghz doesn't tell anyone how powerful your machine is. For example, @Enorats 4 ghz pc is not even close to the power a modern 2 ghz i5 is capable of.

So that means we need to know the specs of your machine. @Rocket In My Pocket gave you some instructions on how to do that. Without that information, all we can do is guess.

You can also give us the make and model of your computer, which would help.

I'll tell you after a week because my computer is at devirusing.           From what i know, it is a Deluxe from 2004 or 2005. Before the "upgrades" it has 500 mb RAM and 2 ghz processor .

But on my friend's computer who have 1 gb ram and 2.2 Ghz is running pretty well ksp 0.23 and Enorats says is not running.

I've a hard time believing that. On my machine ksp uses between 2.5 and 3.5 gb ram depending on whether it's stock or modded.

As for the processor, yeah, a multiple core with lower ghz may be faster overall.. but I don't think ksp can handle multithreading. Thus, it'll only use a single core at a time. Regardless, a machine that old is very unlikely to run KSP. The graphics card might not even be able to load it either, I don't recall what the requirements are there. I can tell you that i doubt my old Vista machine won't run it and that's got a 3 ghz single core AMD, 4 gb RAM, and something like 512 mb video. Even if it could run it is wouldn't want to, the speed would be far too slow on even tiny craft.

That would depend on your motherboard (whether it has additional slots, what slots are currently taken, what type of RAM it supports) and your operating system. If you're using a 32 bit system like Vista or Windows 7 32 bit you can't use more than 4. A 64 bit system can use about as much as you can reasonably put in. The motherboard you'll have to look up in its documentation or online, they're all different. Never put new ram in and leave the old though, you want all of it to be identical, or at the very least the same size and speed.

@Enorats I really was talking about single core performance. An old Pentium pro 4 ghz will be hopelessly outclassed by a modern 2 ghz cpu - even when only counting single core performance.

By way of comparison, a few years back we had an Amiga 1200 with a 68030 processor @ 50 mhz. Upgrading to a 68040 @ 25 mhz was a HUGE difference in performance. Yet the new processor only ran at half the clock speed.

You see, the clock speed is only useful for comparing identical architectire CPUs.

As for running KSP on 1 gb RAM, the system requirements do say 2 gb, but I guess it might work with virtual memory?

As has been mentioned before, give the demo a go, it's free: https://kerbalspaceprogram.com/en/?page_id=17
