We're stuck in what looks like a unity (or KSP-unity) bug for OSX (but not all OSX, just some). If you aren't able to get the game to start correctly and into the settings screen, it's probably easiest to edit the settings file.

Just a quick follow up to this. Full screen mode didn't make any difference either way - the problem seems to be with the anti-aliasing. I can max out the other graphics settings but the game just hangs with any level of anti-aliasing switched on. A bit annoying but I guess that jaggies aren't the end of the world.

Thanks again for the suggested fix.

I shouldn't have to camber the wheels on a 50 ton vehicle to prevent it from spinning wildly out of control at 40mph.....

The problem also causes the vehicle to slide sideways without any input on flat terrain.

Override the two settings at the bottom of the wheels options and set the top setting to max, that seems to make all wheels behave much better.

Changing a config file to get a game to even run - are we stuck in the 90s here? I'm getting bad emm386 flashbacks.

I don't see the problem, it's still done in 2016. Standard mode of operation for any Linux or UNIX, and if you do any real customizing on Windows, you'll need to dive into the registry on a regular basis. At least the config file is readable by default.

But I think Claw said that because doing it directly in the settings sometimes bypasses an issue where the in-game settings panel won't take (conflicts with out of the ordinary screen resolutions, or with buggy drivers, I think).

Which doesn't sound any better. Please edit the configuration file because the in-game settings panel is borked. Whoopee. And save me from this 'real computer users expect to use the config file' line of mulch.

For the record, I'm perfectly capable of doing so, but I think it reflects extremely badly on an allegedly release quality version of a piece of software. Anyhow, problem fixed - as per my earlier post - so lets move on.

I know that it is dumb to ask but where is your signature?

(I am fairly new to KSP and the forum )

The signature is the bit that appears at the bottom of all of his posts...

You can set you own signature up in your Account Settings page.

I noticed that asteroids seem to be much smaller in 1.1. I rendezvous'd with two class E's yesterday and both seemed to be under 300 tons... in 1.0.5, they were supposed to be >850 tons or so. Was this intentional or a bug? I am sad because I wasted two 600k-fund giant asteroid tugs.

I downloaded the Windows version of the game from the KSP store.  Now I can't even get the game to run.  When I try to run Launcher.exe, the "Play" button is grayed out and I can't proceed past the opening screen.  When I try to start the game directly from either KSP.exe or KSP_x64.exe, the game tries to start but it gets hung up and never loads.  The progress bar says "Loading Asset Bundle Definitions" and it freezes there and never progresses any further.  The progress bar never shows more than a few percent complete.

Help, please!

Run .exe as administrator

Settings screen doesn't work for me. Reinstalled, still the same.

EDIT: Changed to fullscreen and 1080x1920 using Notepad++, settings screen now works.

It also doesn't like being in windowed mode I think, for some reason. Using borderless windowed fullscreen by way of -popupwindow has the settings screen work.

My first impression of 1.1 64-bit is very positive.  The UI seems quicker and more responsive, and I like being able to lock windows open and move them around on screen.

Also, I'm testing Voice Attack with it (as I have some RSI issues); working very smoothly so far.  Thanks, Squad!

KSP's pop-up part windows appear behind other windows such as experiment results and many mods such as Mechjeb.

Any ideas if it is possible to get them to open at the front?

Unfortunately, this is almost certainly due to the fact that all the stock UI now uses the new Unity5 UI mechanisms while lots of mods still use the older OnGUI based system which is rendered after the new UI stuff.

Hopefully, some cunning modder will be able to find a way around this but I certainly won't be holding my breath.  The mods will probably be updated to use the new UI mechanisms before that happens...
