symmeclept
A suggestion/observation: I'm kinda new to this mod, but the science reward feels a bit high. I launched a telescope and scoured the skies. 95sci/each, with all stock bodies and most of OPM found and researched, I had close to 3000 science. Even with CTT, that's pretty significant for an agency that hasn't been to Minmus yet.

Z3R0_0NL1N3
While you're working on updating this, could you re-write the descriptions? I find that a lot of them just seem strange, or have wacky punctuation. Additionally, something to spread out planet discovery would be nice. I can send a telescope into orbit and discover all the bodies in the solar system. Maybe make it so that I need the telescope to focus on one planet while it's being tracked. Using the inbuilt "track" button in the tracking station would be nice too, in order to unlock spending research cost on the bodies. Finally, the part itself is really niche. It's not modular, which makes it a little bit difficult to put electricity and comms parts on it.

You may also try CactEye; those telescopes are bigger and you actually need to focus the telescope on the planet (as in: turn it so it faces it). It works with Research Bodies, but it gives fewer research points, I think.

Plus, CactEye is a Hubble analogue, which was deep space astronomy. Still, that's neat that they're compatible; I didn't know that before. I have a dev version already that I am still working on other parts of, that means you have to turn the TB-75 etc towards the mystery object in the sky. Sorry obviously with my coming on-board to Squad I'm a little busier than before. I haven't given up on my mods, and getting RB going with the contracts upgrade, etc is all still happening. Just probably a little slower than I'd like. There is a Dev version that works with 1.2+ available via the github links that should keep you going in the meantime. Captain Sierra
I'm dealing with a wierd issue. Telescope is not detecting any bodies even when everything is set up correctly. Checking logs, I get a spam of this when I enter the tracking station to go to my telescope. [LOG 12:56:12.580] 11/25/2016 12:56:12 PM,ResearchBodies-PCBMWrapper,Arrggg: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Full log here. First 80% of the log is just loading in. Possible conflicting mods would be OPM/Kopernicus mainly. Further testing on my end pending to rule mod interaction out. Running version 1.2.1 but that hotfix I wouldnt expect to fully break the mod (possible though).
JadeOfMaar
@Captain Sierra I'm noticing problems with this mod too, not with myself as I've only used it for testing, but I've promoted it in a new solar system mod (not OPM) and now I've seen and heard others say that the telescope malfunctions. I believe a recent Kopernicus update is causing conflict.

skipsinclair
KSP 1.2.1.1604, Mac. Mods installed: ResearchBodies 1.9.0.0/Kopernicus 1.2.1-3/GalileosPlanetPack 1.0.2/KSP-AVC 1.1.6.2. Copied over the database.cfg from GPP to the proper place in RB. Created and launched a TB-75M into ~300Km orbit over Gael. Hit Research Bodies on the telescope, can see Ciro, Niven, Gael, Iota an Ceti in Available Bodies (all at 100% per the cfg db). IncongruousGoat
@skipsinclair I would give you the DLL, or a package with the entire compiled project (having seen the same problem and sought the same solution), but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that. Intellectual property law is confusing, and I'm not intimately familiar with the KSP modding scene, or sufficiently trained in law to interpret the specifics of the GPL. Sorry. Cornholio
I love this mod and understand the potential incapatabilities and such but thought that I would give a heads up. I was using this with a dev build of kerbal construction time and while attempting to upgrade the observatory, the timer would go to 0:00 and not complete, corrupting the save. This may be an issue with kct more than research bodies but figured mention it anyways here. Unfortunately I didn't retain a log from that save as I quickly started over. While many mods are under a permissive licence to encourage contributions by the community, most mod maintainers prefer to be the only person to publish built dll files, to have some control over versions being out in the wild. The reason for this is support. It has happened too often, that users of unofficial development builds start to annoy the original mod authors because of issues that either have already been fixed upstream, or have been introduced by the person who made the unofficial build. So, unless you have permission by the mod maintainer to distribute the build, it's definitely the better option not to share, as we players definitely want to keep the modders in a good mood. JPLRepo
As I posted the other day guys. Hang in there. I've been working on it over the weekend. I hope to get this mod in shape within a week. Already fixed several bugs (including the planet occlusion for the TB-75) and got the first contract working. Now that I have that framework done for the contracts the other contracts should be quick and then there's a few other peripheral things to do, like the Observatory UI. JPLRepo
Progress update.. slow and steady. I haven't made anywhere near as much progress as I would have liked. I'm going to work towards getting an update out with just a few of the contracts features to begin with and progressively build on it I think. Epiphanic
I'm currently using the Dev Release build and there may be something wrong. When I go to the Astronaut Complex (in a vessel or EVA) the game recognizes the biome as Administration rather than Astronaut Complex. illectro
I was sure I had this working a few weeks ago, but now it's not detecting anything, and there's nothing in the logs. Anyone know if it's sensitive to versions of other mods which might have been updated in the last couple of weeks. Using the v1.9 Develop DLL with Galileo mod.
