Super annoying fullscreen behavior

Recommended Posts

So I just set up my PC with dual monitors and I had KSP, in fullscreen mode, on the first monitor.  I also had Chrome open on my second monitor.  Any time I would click over to Chrome and change focus from KSP to Chrome, KSP would minimize and I would have to click down to the task bar and open it again.  Every.  Time.  I.  Clicked.  Anywhere.

It's soooo annoying.  And it's not just changing window focus either, I could Alt+Tab and as soon as I pressed it KSP would minimize - dual and single monitor.  If I did anything to switch to a different window using one monitor at a time, KSP wouldn't just go behind Chrome for example, it would minimize.  So I couldn't minimize Chrome to find KSP underneath, I had to click down to the taskbar to open KSP again.  This is not a Microsoft thing, it's a KSP thing.  Is there anything at all I can do to change this?  Switching focus in two monitors now is reeaaally annoying.

This is normal for Ksp. You can try to run it in full screen windowed mode to see if that fixes it by going into steam, then right clicking on Ksp then go to properties.after that under the general tab go to set launch options and once that window pops up type in "-popupwindow" without the quotes.

edit- go into settings and select windowed mode for it to work

Edit 2-if you don't have steam then just go to C:\ksp_win\ksp.exe (if that isn't the location then sorry I don't know where it is located just try to find Ksp.exe on your C drive) then rename ksp.exe to "ksp.exe - popupwindow" without the quotes

So is there no way to fix that while keeping KSP in fullscreen mode?

EDIT:  I don't actually have Steam but the "popupwindow" thing didn't work.  I renamed KSP_x64 instead of original though because I run a 64 bit computer.  I'll look around in game settings for it.

Idk if I explained it well enough for it being none steam so here is an article on it. the only problem is that it wont work for anything other than Windows. It only worked for me when I went into ksp and switched it into windowed mode so it will become a "fixed window" and then i could use chrome on my second monitor without ksp closing. I hope you get this fixed :)

Running w/ a borderless window will fix this problem. It isn't an option in-game but you can create a shortcut w/ it.

In the field "C:\users\username\desktop\KSP_win\KSPx64.exe" add in [ -popupwindow] directly after the quotation mark with a space in between. This function screws up changing controller axis but that's the only issue I've seen with it.

VERY IMPORTANT if you're using the -popupwindow switch. Once you go back into the game IT'LL STILL BE IN FULLSCREEN MODE until you turn off fullscreen mode in the options. Then, set your resolution to be your screen's resolution, lest you get a borderless window in the middle of your screen with stuff around it.

"popupwindow" is not "fake fullscreen." It's just a borderless, centered version of the game instead of one with borders and the title bar at the top. You have to - in addition to using that switch - tell KSP how big you want it and that you don't want "real" fullscreen.

Source: I've been using the switch for about 3 years now.
