tropico and prison architect (examples of how to port a game to console without it being a disaster) for however long this fix takes

I was quite impressed with how good the console port of Prison Architect turned out.  A great example of the porting company they hired making UI changes that looked sharp and really help with the gameplay spacific to a console.  They even chose to re-port some of those elements into the final PC build!

18 hrs ago KSP tweeted "It's time to show off... How many crafts does your Space Program have? Let's see who has the most!"

It's a disgraceful tweet.  They truly have forgotten about their console customers.

Hey http://www.twitter.com/KerbalSpaceP not fixing the console port is cruel enough.  Please don't suggest contests that will currupt save data, and that only the PC version can win.

I don't think they've forgotten, they just don't care, it's Flying Tigers problem to sort the console version out, so Squad can concentrate on the PC version.

The game on consoles is a mess, in it's current state it should have been an early access release, not a full £32 release.

@danowat  Yeah I was hoping that they were just forgetful and not cruel.  New theory: they actually deplore console gamers, were forced into doing the port by Sony and Microsoft, and made sure it was broken.

Hey Dano! They care, they are just incapable of getting this fixed promptly. The PC market for KSP is saturated. They need growth to stay alive and make money. The console release is a huge business opportunity for them. The reality is that I think they bit off more than they can chew. FTE apparently is rewriting the save process for the game and SQUAD is currently testing 20 different builds of the game. That in itself is kind of scary. 20 versions? Sounds like they are just throwing things at it until something sticks. Anyways, it's the best game ever and this wait has been horrible, I can't wait to play it. What do you do after 2 months and no hope in sight. Laugh I guess. I choose to remain blindly optimistic.

I couldn't agree more. This is my exact feeling and point of view in this matter. I'd like it twice if I could.

I emplore anyone who is unhappy with the XBO version to contact xbox support, either by email or live chat, and tell them, the more people that complain, the better.

The game has a 5 star rating in the Xbox One store for some reason. People don't seem to care if they bought an unfinished, broken game. My guess is that most people don't put enough time into the game to run into these problems. I have contacted Microsoft support a couple times now about these issues, but that didn't do much. They weren't even aware there was a problem with KSP. Why this game didn't release into the early access program on Xbox One is beyond me. It's obvious to us that's what they should have done, as the game is clearly unfinished and in need of work. They really couldn't have done KSP any worse on console. It's too bad. Such a great idea for a game, such horrible execution.

I get that, but answer this.

Why were these bugs not found in testing?, were they and they just shipped it anyway?, or was the product just not tested?, there are UI issues that present themselves within a few hours of play, so it's not like it would have taken extensive testing.

Consoles now have the option of having games in early access, if FTE wanted some extended testing, and get some money, then they should have gone down that route, rather than just throwing this mess into the wild.

To my knowledge, there has been no word from the devs about 1.2 on console yet. Does anyone else know anything? Are we even allowed to ask about it? FT probably should have been working on that for the past 2 months, but instead, they are busy failing to fix their mistakes. Other devs have made it pretty important to release updates across all platforms pretty close together, usually within a week or a month at most in my experience. But for this game, we are expected to wait how long? Too long, that's certain.

I can't find it right now but I remember a dev saying that the console version would be kept up to date with the pc version. This was a long time ago though, I'm afraid with the mess theyve left the console version in the future is not so bright

you would_hope_ some of the delay is a lack of working on patching the current version, but on porting 1.2 and testing it for the consoles.

Thats the sensible thing to do surely? not try to patch up a previous, out dated version...

I wish this was the case but supposedly FTE has created 20 inadequate builds, all before the 1.2 version.  Anyway this can't have been the plan at release.

Although I never played it because it is not my kind of game, something similar happened when Payday 2 launched on consoles. Article here. The game is co-op only, and matchmaking was broken on consoles for months. Game updates released for PC weren't released on console for months. People were upset and articles were written about the fiasco. Here is the devs response.

Payday 2 is having a sale on Xbox One right now, and one of the top threads on /r/XboxOne is warning other gamers about the broken game and lack of developer support for console. There is nobody even talking about the broken KSP console release outside of this forum. You would think that the KSP reddit or somewhere there would be people talking about this, but there is not.

We need to spread the word that this game is a broken mess and more importantly that the dev response has been pitiful at best. The KSP reddit sub is mostly people talking about how unplayable the game is. I hope everyone affected contacts MS/Sony to let them know that there is a mess of a game on their stores.

Cough *hope* cough, not expectation sadly.

Though the current version *working* I'd be very happy with

How many games have been "ported" without currupting save data?  Tell the console to save the data and then load it.  Consoles have been doing this for over 20 years.  It's one of the most basic critical game functions.  There is no way this was not seen by QA during testing.  NASA.

Every week that goes by without any word or a fix, I just grow to hate KSP more and more. Why won't Squad give me my money back? It is over 2 months after release. How long am I expected to wait? What is too long? I didn't pre-order the game to play at some unspecified date. Hey Squad, recall your broken product please! Inform Microsoft and Sony that you don't know what you are doing, and apologize. You are being dishonest and ripping people off. Guess all that is pretty typical for an advertising company. Just wish this game was made by a competent video game company. Keep ignoring your customers Squad. See where that gets you.

Before the console release I was landing on the Mun with PC demo, playing it almost every other day.  Then this happened.  Now I don't play KSP at all.

Same here, played KSP since 0.17 and was looking forward to go trophy hunting on the PS4 with all my knowledge acquired so far.
Now I just get a foul taste of thinking of KSP, i seriously am not enjoying it anymore on the PC.

I can't help but think that Squad is not to blame as in the past they have been great in terms of transparency and reaction times.
This whole problem with the console versions is something else, and it must be FTE. Squad is just not willing (or not allowed) to say what it is.

Dunno, for the first few weeks post release they were blaming the certification process, now we know that they were nowhere near that.  Seems to me they were buying time for FTE. Not very transparent. Honestly nothing short of a sincere apology will make me ever trust either of these two companies.

For those of us who missed out on a refund because we were thinking that Squad would fix this in a timely matter, this has been just a slap in the face. We basically got punished for trusting Squad. Squad is still selling that old, broken game for full price on the Xbox and Playstation marketplace too. It is deceptive at best. Downright dishonest if you ask me. They are certainly not acting with any respect or regard for their console customers. We deserve more than an apology. I want my money back.

We should never trust greedy, incompetent advertising companies to make good video games. Just because they had a good idea for a game doesn't mean they could bring that idea to fruition. "With the success of KSP, Squad is starting to branch out into other areas, such as record-producing, and away from pure marketing." So now we all know to steer clear of any Squad record label. What a joke. Fix your broken game before you run off and start playing record producer.

Couldn't agree more,  hopefully we get some positive news in this week's dev notes.
