You should check out @nuclear_turkey's electric bearing design. Vaos human made a video on it. It's much more compact than a wheeled bearing and is very reliable too!

Thanks ... that's funny, I saw that one today. I'll stick with wheeled, I really expect when 1.2 arrives the reliability problem will be solved. And I don't care about size when building a cargo plane. Those little engines/bearings are reliable but as we've seen earlier ... they can't handle the brute force I'm looking for. Squad really has to do something with the collider integrity/mass ratio.

Development is going fine: flying 100m/s at 10km.

For a turbo prop yeah but it would be perfect for making what you have in this thread (low stress electric craft) more compact. Just a thought.

Low stress ... I wish that was the case.

Lower than a turbo prop certainly. You said above:

Referencing turbo props. I'm sure nuclearturkeys would work for something like the craft in the this thread. :)

It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird ...

I see you have no interest in trying it. Maybe if I have time I will DL you craft in this thread and attach one of his bearings on to it. I know it has a good chance to work as it's just a case of prop surface area. So maybe a dual prop would be required but again would be far smaller and compact.

Go ahead, I'd love to see you dive into it, we need more minds working on this.

I'm not that much of a fan of these types of craft but if I have a spare hour or two after my curiosity build I may try to jury rig nuclear turkeys props to it. I would prefer to get my tank tracks to work.

How so good sir?

They have more stayputniks in a strutted shaft, and my newer models feature secondary reinforcement on the propeller. Also, I've more finely tuned the Stayputniks in relation to the main shaft, to minimize wobble.

Did you see in the Vaos Human video they they discovered that turning the reaction wheels gives much more torque! Nice trick that.

That is something new I guess, but housing the expandable elements (the parts which get flung outwards due to centrifugal force) inside of the fuselage amplifies the impact of sudden shocks on the shaft itself. If you're going for speed though, it can be useful.

I tried it with my engine ... I actually didn't record any increase in torque. Who knows, maybe I did it wrong. I'd like to know how they tested it.
