Would you prefer a Dres SSTO or an Eve return mission?

  1. 1. Which of the two would you rather see be made into a youtube video?

    • Dres SSTO (No mining)
    • Eve return mission in 1 launch (No mining)

I am currently torn between which of the two I should make a youtube video out of, so tell me, would you prefer a SSTO to Dres without mining or a single launch to Eve and back without mining? Thanks. If you would like to see something not in the poll feel free to comment it below, I am always open to ideas.:P

Perhaps something more uncommon. An Eve science base for several kerbals. Perhaps you could construct the base and then later send ascent vehicles. Also, sending them empty and then refuelling them on Eve using a fuel-carrying vehicle would probably be a good idea. Whilst I've seen people making use of ISRU for their Eve ascent vehicles, it's pretty rare that someone will make a dedicated surface base on Eve.

All my Dres landers are SSTO, it takes less than 1km/s dV.
Just getting to Eve is three times harder than a Dres landing and reorbit.

So, I don't understand the question.  Do you mean you intend to launch your Dres lander/transfer vehicle(s) with a SSTO?  Even that's easy unless you also make the SSTO recoverable and, preferably, reusable.  ... Ooooh, were you thinking of a reusable SSTO launcher?  Surely you weren't thinking of taking it all the way to Dres?  Reusable, interplanetary, Dres lander?

Riiiight ... ok, one of these missions is complicated just for the sake of it and misuses the term 'SSTO', the other is something people might find useful.
Question kind of answers itself after all.

Single launch land on all the planets and moons and then come back landing on the runway.

I'm working on a mission like that, however I am still really bad at landing near the KSC.

Do an Eve mission, THEN go to Dres!

Nope Dres comes first.

Nice idea mate.

He means an SSTO spaceplane to Dres and back no refueling.

The only reason I think I am going to do the Eve mission first is that with school starting I have less time to make videos and an ion powered Dres plane will take a lot of time, but do not fret it will be done. I am not sure how soon, maybe a week or 2 from now depending on if I procrastinate or not.

I see no mention of spaceplane.  I see no mention of Single Stage beyond (Kerbin?) Orbit.  I see no mention of 'and back'.
From where do you derive your information?

This is what I was thinking. SSTO from the surface of Dres? I can do that with a Kerbal!

(Actually I don't know if I can. I'm now curious enough to try the next time I have the game loaded, if I remember to try)

Well you obviously have not been watching @JacobJHC's videos. He has been playing with SSTO spaceplanes FYI. Besides, who makes interplanetary VSSTOs anyways?

No, of course I haven't been watching his videos, why would I?  If someone asks a question I hope it provides the information necessary to answer it - possibly referencing the videos needed to understand their mis-use of jargon.  I also hope it doesn't abuse terms like Single Stage 'TOrbit' to mean 'To Dres', otherwise how is anyone meant to know?  Unless this thread is just about promoting a disinformation video channel, what would be the point?

What's a VSSTO got to do with anything?  Why would anyone make any sort of interplanetary SSTO?
If you talk about SSTO <celestial body> why should people not think you mean about using a Single Stage To <that> Orbit?  Why should we even consider 'reusable', let alone 'from Kerbin'?

PS: Before answering you should know I've annoyed lots of people by being pedantic about this point.  (Hint: don't let me annoy you - just consider what 'Single Stage To Orbit' means, what 'spaceplane' and 'reusable' mean and then use those terms any damn way you please; if you think I'm trolling the only correct response is "don't feed the troll" ^^).  I'm sticking with 'pedantic until proved wrong'.

[Yes, you can take this as self-reporting.  No-one should be upset by this or any other posts I make.  I'm not getting-at anyone, just pointing out what 'SSTO' means]

My videos do not misuse any terminology.

Let's take my Ike SSTO for example,

I have built a craft that can go from the surface of Ike to Ike orbit using only 1 stage, however I also delivered it to Ike's surface by using fuel from that same stage meaning it could qualify for several different terms such as Ike SSTO or Kerbin SSTO.

I'd like to see someone land something that can get back to Eve orbit in one stage without the use of mining. That'd be pretty ace, since a fully fueled Eve SSTO pushing, like, a seat, is easily north of 200t.

This guy did that.
