Today Mission: Build a Mun One (base)

I know I could post number of picture in here. But I have better idea... VIDEO!!! less 3 min worth of video.

I never able to build something big base like many people could. But this is... one my most largest I even built base on mun. Yes, I use mechjeb to landing.

Mechjeb looks dangerous - that's a proper suicide burn! Even though I don't use it myself, it makes for good videos.

It's probably much easier to build the station in orbit than to assemble it on the uneven ground of the Mun. I've only built stations that consist of multiple parts on the flats of Minmus, where everything is much easier.

Some notes:

- you don't need decouplers on docking ports - ports alone can act as decouplers.

- unkerbed? No flag on the surface? For shame!

- Interesting landing

- If you want to get rid of the lifting stages, set the throttle to just a notch below liftoff before decoupling them. Deprived of the mass of the base they will take off and fly away on their own, crashing far away (unless you're quite unlucky... but hey, adventurous spirit!)

- ...what features does the base have? Lab? ISRU? Rovers?

Doh! Why I never though of set throttle and decoupling....

Who need flag when base have decal logo on it....

feature? probably nothing just a one of mod Stockalike Station Parts Expansion and rest are stock....

Rover.... I sucks on build stable rover. Every design i build and rest they always flip over

Matt Lowne? I was inspiration from Raffo84 I saw his ideas, I like the idea. So I come up my own design of structure nothing like his design. He use all stock, not me.

Remember, for reference, the real lunar rover only did 3.6 m/s, personally, I keep em in the 2-3 m/s range unless I F5 and go in a straight line only.  Then I'll push it up to 15 m/s give or take.

Lunokhod only did like 0.5 m/s!

If you don't like the suicide burn landing that MechJeb performs, then actually specify a target instead of "Land Anywhere". The "Land Anywhere" option performs a suicide burn. When you actually specify a target and have MechJeb land at that target, MechJeb targets for 500 meters above the actual target, does a lot of futzing around getting everything "just right", then lands vertically from that location. Although during the futzing around stage, the orientation can be a bit disturbing (sideways, inverted, etc). A quick tap on :"Abort" followed by "Land Anywhere" stops the futzing and causes MechJeb to land immediately.
