Thats cool! ill have to figure out how to use that. having an inclined base is no issue. Loads of fun actually. Can't wait to see how i pilot space planes from the inclined KSC!

Open GameData\scatterer\config\Sunflares\Ciro.cfg and take a close look at the third number after flareSettings and spikesSettings. Divide those by the scale factor of your solar system (because the scale unit is 1/x) ......or reduce them however you feel to. Replace the original numbers in the config with the answers and save.

For example I have 0.6 and 1 in my config......If I were to play 10x GPP now I would want to have 0.06 and 0.1 instead. I have not actually even opened KSP with any up-scale of a solar system so I don't know if 10x sunflare is actually overkill.

Personally I found 3.2x to be enough challenge without the inclined launches :)  Plus having ~8 bases to choose from makes those early days flight surveys much less painful. Certainly at inflated scales, you'll want to choose the nearest starting point!

2. Download it

3. Install it

Now if I could create one myself that would be greeeeeat. :( *wants* I haven't the skill or patience to do an 8K skybox, let alone an SD wallpaper fit for a game.

You can't launch into Iota's plane, but your parking orbit will cross Iota's plane.  If you time the launch correctly, you can make it so that your transfer burn occurs at the time you are passing through Iota's orbital plane, therefore eliminating the need for a plane change.  I described how to do it here...

Make sure that you install Scatterer from GPP's bundle and not from its normal place(s). Your config seems just fine. If you have any mods installed that affect ambient light they need to be reset or uninstalled.

Ah, thanx! What, specifically, does each of the two settings tweak? Tried .06 and .1 and it's looking pretty good:

So, of course, I did the only sensible one can do at the point and added a couple of zeroes after the decimal. :D

The two numbers in bold were respective to the two settings parameters also in bold. :) The third number is 1/x for the scaling size.

Your stuff needs to look like this or lower:

flareSettings = 0.7,1,0.06
spikesSettings = 0.6,1,0.1

So 3.2x is kicking my ass :blush: 

With ~5.6km/s required for LGO, it seems pretty obvious that I need a mining base on Iota, but... nothing I put together in the VAB can lift significantly more ore to orbit than it needs to refuel itself for another trip. At best I'd be looking at about 300 units of fuel per run, and that's going to drive me mad. 

This is going to take a lot of pondering. Don't want to give up just yet, but lifting anything to LGO that's much beyond 40 tons is a problem with my current tech, so I'd really hoped I could have a small miner to start off. 

Maybe I need to revisit nuclear engines... Iota's g-asl is pretty forgiving, and it's going to be an unavoidably heavy craft... which is where nerva's shine, if you can get away with the low TWR...

(I would prefer to keep the refinery in orbit if possible, since Iotian nights are very long and I don't have good batteries or RTGs yet.)

  • What are Skyboxes?
  • Where/How can you find them and download them?
  • What do you do or can you do with the Skybox file?

-Skyboxes are the sky, in KSP this is the stars/nebula/milky way/... but you can use anything as a skybox. Examples: W9OS3Ry.pngyUfc9yU.jpg

-You can find and download skyboxes mostly in the Texture Replacer thread.

-The skyboxes are dds files (files that store textures).You can edit them (make them brighter, etc) and if you have a bit of skill you can create your own (you can use Spacescape, a program made to do galaxy  skyboxes). You can find tutorials how to make skyboxes on YouTube.

Ok so they are background Sky visuals that are used during gameplay, yes?

In other words, they are the visuals you see in the Sky during gameplay....
