I did some redesigning and this is going to be my final model:

1z1r38d.png

Mass: 1.8 tonnes loaded
Power: Fuel/Oxidizer fuel cells. Auxillary power is supplied by four 300 unit batteries
Top speed: 48 m/s (around 180 km/hr)

Unofficially it did the stage 1-2 route in just under 13 minutes. She's a contender! :)

OMK, I need that frame !

I've tried the tube mod, but its a puzzle to me, but this will def. make me go back to it.

I still have 3 weeks. &)

I just kept it simple. Used the fancy bent pieces as little as possible, used the straight pieces as much as possible and just rotated them into position. Not a sophisticated method, but it's tried and true. It still works in real life.

As for the car, you'll need the tube mod, B9 for the lights, tweak scale, Wheels collection, Coatl Aerospace for the batteries, and the rest is stock. Not much is stock, but there are a few items here and there.

I found the control of the wheels when going over cracks in the terrain very good. Just keep the dampeners cranked up (1.6 to 2.0) and they work very well. Springs adjust to taste.
Friction control is a bit finer than the stock wheels of similar size, so the adjustments will be numerically higher. 1.1 for the front and 2.5 for the rear works well with my machine. Steering is crisp but not insane.

Oh, and I forgot: Lock up your rear wheels so they don't steer. 4 wheel steering is great for low speeds, but at high speeds it's a PITA.

Thank you, I just had a bit of time left for a paintjob.

I think @DoctorDavinci will like this colour scheme

Yeah, I think so. :)

I like the way you set up the structural plate to start off the single occupant buggy chassis. Well done!

I learned that the hard way when I tried to put wheels on the frame...

It's a tough mod to learn, but I'm getting the hang of it.

Tomorrow I will work on the new wheels and put them on, I need them a bit smaller.

M8s I have tried a few, This is what i have come to think IMO, Center of mass low as you can. Trick the wheels just a bit but not tomuch or they will dig in and flip you over.  Triop is right on the speed slow down a bit stage 1 and 7 are speed the rest are control. remember the rabbit wont win the race..... you will seee in next video.

Girls are added eye candy.

So I got side tracked by other KSP things, but I've now put my two craft up for download
https://kerbalx.com/katateochi/Project-6 | https://kerbalx.com/katateochi/Rambler

I've also uploaded a couple vids showing the full runs with each rover.

Rambler:

Spoiler

Project 6:

Spoiler

tbh they're not that interesting to watch, the project-6 run is more interesting as it's faster (although watching it again, I made a total hash of stage 2, terrible work!, stage 5 is quite good viewing though!).  With project-6 in stage one I clipped a bit of odd terrain and it flipped the rover, against all odds it was a perfect barrel roll right back onto it's wheels.  V lucky as I was running with the rollcage down so that would have been instant explody doom.

Is it okay if I email this to a YouTuber? He makes videos on funny glitches, great moments, or just incredible moments; I think that this counts

haha, yeah sure! In the vid that bit happens at around 06:20

Tried it. Not too bad off-road, but it's a bit top heavy. Take the corners slow, and keep a sharp eye on the horizon.

I know, it sucks, had my fun with it and moving on....

Well, it's not that bad. It's certainly capable as a off-road vehicle. It's just not fast. It does climb mountains great, albeit slowly.

Stage 4 with the Mad Moose is complete

Still failing stage 2 with the ADD RX ,, supplementing the wheels with junos was a bad idea maybe.. Balancing the friction is troublesome,  too little and it slips and slides everywhere barely under control and a little too much although it get s me moving usually results in being upside down shortly after,    65 tonne tank seems to not be a natural racer :)   So stuck on restarting and reruns of stage 1, was hoping to have at least caught up with you by now :)   Very respectable times you've posted too

Go to NEBULA/decals/textures, there you will find the images.

Open 1 in paint, delete the image and insert your own, rename the save.

Then go to NEBULA/decals and open the config file with notepad.

search for this:

textureNames = dcl;nebula;esa1;esa2;eustars;squad;iss;nasa1;nasa2;roskosmos1;roskosmos2;energia1;euflag;usflag;ruflag;ruflag2;rusroundel;nummer
// Add your texture name at the end of the above line with a semicolon before it.
// Copy your texture in the GameData/NEBULA/decals/textures/

For the number image I added ;nummer

Done.

Should I make you a number ? 702 ? &)
