Vacation?  I was working 10-14 hour days up until the 23rd, 6-7 days/week.  I'm a production bench jeweler, and do you know how many people decide to wait until the week before the holidays to decide they need a ring or necklace, or bracelet or something as a gift, for an engagement, or for a wedding?  The stuff we sell isn't pre-made, then pulled off a shelf and shipped - we make each one to order (by hand) as the order comes in, and it goes out in 3-5 business days.  The orders coming in the last week for the holidays were for those doing their special days around New Year's.  Now we get a small break (meaning only 8-10 hour days, six days a week), and around the middle of January, the Valentine's rush starts.

Oh, and I'm 52.
