tater
About an hour after the Starlink launch, Rocketlab will launch—and try to recover the booster! So bumping this thread.

tater
Hold, waiting on go/no go to restart. They have a decent window. Unsure what the loiter time for the helo is, my guess is that that would be the limiting factor. Counting down again. Geonovast
I did hear a group AWWW right at the end. I wonder if they lost it.
sevenperforce
Just now, cubinator said: Hard to say if they still have it. She said it was a confirmed catch. Presumably the tow arrangement is such that it's offscreen. Just now, Geonovast said: I did hear a group AWWW right at the end. I wonder if they lost it. I think there was an "awwww" when it went out of frame because it looked like they had missed the chute, but then there was a bunch of cheering. tater
Fingers crossed. Would be cool if they did it on their first try.
darthgently
I'm hoping the "awww" was just the realization that the camera would not be able to track the captured booster. Or if they did "lose it" then the chute would still have been in place to safely lower the booster...perhaps? Idk. waiting...
Geonovast
Even if they lost it, it's still a pretty good first attempt.

darthgently
Rocket Lab youtube live stream says pilot noticed different load characteristics after successful capture, so released booster to descend by chute... darthgently
Someone following chopper telemetry said chopper never went below 7k on way back from capture so they apparently released booster to chute it down from up high; did not take down to boat

obnox twin
I am wondering how much tons the neutron can lift to the moon
tater
9 hours ago, obnox twin said: I am wondering how much tons the neutron can lift to the moon Their Neutron page says 13,000kg to LEO, 1500kg to Mars/Venus. TLI is pretty close to TMI, so slightly more than 1500kg. That would be to TLI, so very little to the surface.
