Major cloudbanks here in my city too, which sucketh Interesting that they separate the trunk before they deorbit. Does D1 do that as well? I suppose the trunk will decay on its own? I guess they are confident it will be obliterated in re-entry rather than surviving with debris to the ground.
StrandedonEarth
Completely overcast. Nothing to see here, please move along...
KSK
Seems like a reasonable assumption seeing as it’s how most of the other Station resupply ships are disposed of. I can’t imagine the trunk being any more sturdy than a Progress for example.

I suppose they could have separate burns but considering how many ties I've crashed into my own service modules in KSP, I suppose it makes sense that they jettison before burning to get away from the trunk. cubinator
Is Dragon ahead or behind the station?

Well just to a sidenote to the Soyuz the Soyuz goes radial (radial on the Nav ball if this were KSP) and then separates, im assuming the dragon does something similar and jettisons the Trunk while the capsule or the Trunk is facing earth rather than Retro or Prograde positions here it comes.... Xd the great
WOOOOOOOH YEET Since the capsule is slanted during splashdown, will the astronauts crash land head first or feet first?

Astronaut seats are also slanted. For them it'll be straight down. Edited March 8, 2019 by sh1pman

Depends on whether they have a chance of fouling, I suppose. Congrats to SpaceX and NASA!! 22 minutes ago, Xd the great said: WOOOOOOOH YEET Since the capsule is slanted during splashdown, will the astronauts crash land head first or feet first? The seats actuate for entry and landing, actually. There were quite a few occasions during the entry interface where you could see flashes coming off Dragon trailing in the plasma stream. I wonder if those were pieces of TPS or paint or what......
Ultimate Steve
https://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=47120.220 More work is being done on the starhopper nose cone, and they have made a crawler out of two treads and some jacks. The bottom section of the hopper is being carried by the crawler to the launch pad they have set up.

Looks sloppy, though, I can't remember seeing any chutes on a spacecraft so active before.

Evidently engines will be installed at the pad? Work continues on the nose cone. I suppose it will be transferred separately but the hopper will do initial hover tests without it.
