Stock Fighter jet with ejection seat

Just something I've been working on, I don't know if this has been done before.

100% completely stock

The canopy (airbrake) blows off to allow the ejection seat to exit safely.

Ejection seat is equipped with a drogue chute and Kerbal usually survives.

It's been done all right. I have made one myself a few years ago. I love a stock custom cockpit, I dare say I was the first to make one but yours looks great!

 I don't often see folks making use of the airbrake as a canopy, it looks awesome mate!

Very nice! This is one of the better stock cockpits I've seen, very compact yet still aesthetically pleasing and smooth.

Beena while since I built a jet with an ejector seat. I know I made one once... Dunno when, or what it was called though xD. Didn't have an ejectable canopy however.

And the Jet/SSTO I made with an ejector seat was my Eagle 1 SSTO back in Jan 2015:

Oh, both these craft where made before the aerodynamics where changed so they don't work in the current game sadly.

Yeah, that was the thing that got me into custom planes in general, though at the time my OCD beat me up over the lack of canopy.

Custom cockpits like this are great aesthetically, though keep in mind that all those small, draggy parts are *not* occluded in something like this, and thus will impact your jet's performance.

That's why I moved to using 1.25m Payload Pays as my cockpits for command-seat-using designs.

@Majorjim! I really like how you can access the cockpit on the Eagle 1 from the bottom and that biplane is awesome! I might try building one if I can get my electric prop engine to give me more thrust.

Thanks mate, I was very happy with that too! It's a toallty unique design and adds just a little bit of fun to getting into the thing. It makes it feel a bit more like a real machine.

By the way, can you make a newer version of the Eagle? Like, with a closed cockpit, better looks, etc? I'd like to see it in a newer version, because, you know, favourite spaceplane in KSP and all that...

I'm happy to hear that. Maybe soon mate, I was already working on it on and off to renew it. The shape does not work well in the new aero but with a few changes I'm sure it could work.
