!ental"? LOL.

Now Im confused if you aren't concerned why asking what I think?

Anyways, that is off topic. So I'd rather exemplify the usefulness of the upvote mentioning that people are using it in this thread and is working. The relevant answer are at the top while or meaningless discussion is there at the bottom.

If the aim of this part of the forum is to be a Q&A section then I'd look for inspiration from the masters; the biggest community driven Q&A site out there is stackexchange (stackoverflow being one of the most well known sections of it) which uses a question and ranked answer format. The key advantage of that is when you see a question you're interesting in, the best answer is right there and you don't have to waste time going through all the other posts.

But if this section is also to contain discussions then the ranked answers break the flow and a chronological layout is preferable.

So my suggestion (being awkward and different as usual) is to have a section called "Gameplay Tutorials" and keep that as a discussion section with a chronological layout and a separate "Gameplay Q&A" section which has the ranked layout and makes more emphasis that it is just a place for quick questions and answers (some of which would likely reference topics in the Tutorial section) and try to encourage people to use the answer ranking system more.

I had to ask myself why Stack Exchange sites don't have the "incoherent discussions" problem. On Stack Exchange, an Answer and a Comment are two different things. If you want to comment on someone's Answer, you can do so without creating your own votable Answer, and your Comment will sort with that Answer as it moves up and down the vote hierarchy. Linear clarifications and reactions can still happen without having to bounce all over the thread to find the previous replies. In effect, Stack Exchange has both of the options in this poll active at the same time.

Presumably that's far outside the realm of possibility for this forum.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
