Jool needs rings.

But... why? I’m against this because I don’t really like the idea of changing the kerbal system in such a significant way, and also the moons might get in the way.

eh, I still want a second gas planet with rings, I like jool as it is though.

You mean "insignificant"? Because that won't change much except visual effect.

I'm curious though, if one managed to take some files (with all dependencies) from one of the visual packs that contain Jool rings and just paste it into the stock game, would it work?

Sure, if by "dependencies" you mean "Kopernicus," and by "just paste it into the stock game" you mean "install it normally".

That would mean that full pack is installed, including all visual effects. If I wanted only rings?

Wouldn't any ring just be gobbled up by Laythe? The reason Saturn has more ring than Jupiter is because it does not have any massive inner Moons that eat rings for lunch.

That is because [theory] in Saturn's case one baby Moon gobbled up another Baby Moon and so the rings were formed [theory]. So Moons make rings.

Moons also form the uniquely shaped rings of Saturn due to their respective gravitational forces in conjunction with that of Saturn's.

So there's quite the admiration for the relative dance of Saturn, it's rings and it's moons in action. Without the moons, we would have very different rings, blimey, no rings at all!
So yeah, it won't work on Jool.

OT: I really don't like the visual enhancements rings, or was it EVE that introduces it. Anyway, I installed the whole visual package including Eve and other plugins and haven't cataloged what the exact mod is within the SVE package that adds it. But I have them, and I don't even like them.

It's just some narrow band you cross across.
I'm all in favour for rings. But they need to be consistent of individual particles. Not particularly with collision effects whereby they're asteroids that need to be immediately avoided, no, no, no. That's not within my wildest expectations. But atleast a ring that looks elegantly enough to cross through, albeit with some more sophisticated imagery that can at best be illusionary to the senses so it behaves like going through a actual ring. Maybe use a system with procedural-auto generated textures to mimic small particles one passes through.

Everytime I pass through the Jool's SVE rings I'm like, hey, gotcha, "I'm playing a game" and you dirty disk just reminded me of it! THAANKS!!

Otherwise, the SVE package is awesome though. Keep up the good work to anyone involved in it.

Planetary rings are not permanent, rather like really slow space weather. Earth has had them many times in the past and Saturn's rings are going to fade away one day.
