Of the 3 other atmospheric worlds that you mentioned, you managed to pick the 2 where it has no particular advantage. Aerospikes are generally chosen for atmospheric performance... Laythe has oxygen and an airbreathing engine is a much better choice. Duna barely has an atmosphere, you can just use vacuum engines on Duna, because the atmosphere isn't dense enough to severely impact their Isp.

Eve is really where the Dart shines.

Of course, it is overall pretty good, and it can be used on vacuum designs too when you want a short engine and you need more thrust than a terrier.

Thrust is the reason I use it, not any particular atmospheric advantage per se. It packs 3 times the thrust in the same space as a Terrier. That's why I use them in places where I need a bit more oomph to leave, in the same size lander, and without burning through my fuel too quickly. I don't use jet engines, so the oxygen on Laythe makes no difference to me. As for Eve, my first successful ascent used Darts on the second stage, and they worked fine, but I now prefer the Mammoth or Vector. Which was the whole point of this thread. The OP was asking for your engine preference and priority. Not what works best where. Those answers could be found easily elsewhere.

LV-T45. Use it on my entire launch vehicle line, with 7 of them launching my 2.5m stack.

 

Used to be nuclear engines but they have been nerfed so much they just aren't worth using now.
