Recommended Posts

I am having trouble with some "mods", heres the story, weee story time, a tragic story :(

Yesterday I was downloading some mods via Twitch, so I wanted to test them and I openned the game, but the game crashed after it loads, so I uninstalled the mods to see if the game stoped crashing but every time I tried to open the game it crashed after it fineshed to load, I couldnt reach the title screen, now I cant play ksp, do you know how can I talk to the devellopers of the game? becaus every time it crashes it appears "please report this bug to the devellopers"

(my version is 1.3.1)

Greetings and welcome to the forums, @srsufofo

Could you post a list of the mods you have installed?

The first thing I would try is navigating to the KSP folder and deleting everything besides Squad in the game data folder - this will remove all mods and potential conflicts.  Try running KSP.  If that fails and you have the steam version you should verify game files.

Welcome to the forum.

In addition to what James already said, and responding to this question:

There are two main ways to 'talk to the developers':

  • By posting in the Technical Support (unmodded) forum here. There is also a forum for modded games, but that will mostly get you help from other mod users; the devs prefer you report problems with a clean install.
  • Through the KSP bug tracker (by creating a 'New Issue' and describing your feedback/bug report).

You can find detailed tips of how to best ask for feedback or report problems in the Stock Support & Bug Reporting Guide.

I’ve never heard of downloading from twitch before.

One common reason for crashes is mod made for a different version of the game being incompatible.

I would stick with reliable sources such as spacedock and github as these will typically mention what versions of the game they work with.

When removing mods delete the folder from GameData, but be careful not to delete anything else, like the Squad folder or another mod’s dependency.

if you did delete part of the game and you are using Steam you can repair your install with that.

Backup your saves, uninstall the game, and re-install a fresh copy.

If that's all good, start re-installing the mods, one by one.  Starting up the game and testing after each mod.

Also, get your mods from the links provided in the forum threads here, not twitch.  Also make sure they're compatible with 1.3.1 by checking the forum thread.

I dont think I have never did a backup in my game, and in my gamedata folder its only the squad folder I excluded everything else, but thanks to the tip I will never install mods via twitch anymore, Im sorry but how can I install a fresh copy of ksp?

I have already deleted everything in my gamedata folder except the squad folder but it continues to crash :(

Method of reinstall will differ based on where you bought the game, try googling "how to reinstall KSP with STEAM" or wherever you got it from.

After you do that, lookup how to make a copy of your KSP install, and all your modding and playing in that copy. That way you keep a pristine copy, also your game won't get messed up when SQUAD ninja drops an update to the game that makes your mods obsolete.

Ummm, Squad aren't the ones 'ninja dropping' an update on you ... That is Steam doing the automatic updating, blame those who are responsible and not the developers as they aren't the ones who force updates on you

Download the game from where you bought it .... Install to your computer (not to the desktop as this can cause conflicts) ... once KSP is installed, copy the KSP directory to another location on your computer (no Digital Rights Management ... do not copy to desktop as stated earlier) and you now have a 'copy' of KSP that is pristine

Rinse and repeat as necessary ... hope this helps :)
