How do you have upgradeable buildings in Sandbox Mode?

Recommended Posts

I think the closest you could come would be to start a Career game, and cheat up enough science with the console to clear the tech tree.  And I guess cheat up money if you want.  But if you have unlimited money, then upgrading the buildings would be rather trivial.

There's a setting for that in Science mode -- you can choose whether your buildings start off upgraded or not, and whether your Kerbals start off with no stars, or five.  It's not clear to me how you'd upgrade the buildings in Science, however, since it doesn't keep track of funds.  So, start a Science save, set to "not upgraded", and then use the "cheat" menu to unlock the tech tree.

Same settings options for career.

I'm confused.. what would be the point?

It would be symbolic-see Project Ares: the humans get Kerbal tech, but they don't know how to use it. As they learn more and get more, the buildings upgrade to show that they know more. Also, I like the interiors.

I suppose you could start a career game, use the F12 menu to cheat yourself enough science to unlock the entire tech tree and enough funds to build whatever you need, then just upgrade the buildings at your leisure?

Unless you need buildings up to a certain point for tech tree nodes... I wouldn't know, I don't do career.

L1 Reasearch and Development can reasearch up too 100 Science point nodes, L2, 500, L3, Unlimited.
