Placing landing wheels on Mallard plane

Recommended Posts

When I moved the main landing wheels on the stock Mallard plane I could not get them to point straight down. They would point inwards, even when I tried to place them in the original spot. I could only get them to point straight down if I moved them 1/2 way up the tank. Is there some button to hold when placing or something to click? BTW this is not an issue to fix with the WASD buttons.

Thank you

Click the rotate button (middle top left of the editor screen), or hit "3", then click wheels, you can rotate them to position you desire.

You can use the WASD buttons, as that is sometimes easier.  If you Shift-WASD, it will rotate the item in smaller increments.

Another issue can be the difference between "local" and "absolute".  Sometimes you can't get them to point perfectly down, if they're in local.  With snap on, select the rotate tool, click on "local" (or hit F) to switch to absolute mode, then rotate them.  They'll be snapping in reference to the ground instead of whatever part they're attached to.

I didnt know this was a thing. I wonder if it works on console?

It would save a lot of headaches when building.

Hmph.... There's something positive to be said for a lack of documentation.... discovering new things!   Didn't know this one.
