Hi everyone!

I'am sorry if anyone already asked it before, but I bought the game from KSPstore, can I buy the DLC from GOG and play it with the store version?

Or I can only use the store version.

Thanks in advance

:)

i would say no

i imagine the steam DLC is going to look for the main game under its common apps folder and not find it which will not install.

i could be wrong but i wouldnt do it just yet

Who said anything about Steam?

It might work.  The GoG installer asks you for your KSP directory.  AFAIK, it just extracts the contents to the GameData folder and installs like a mod.  Will GoG let you buy the DLC without owning their copy of the game?  They should, but I've never tried to buy a DLC without having the game,

Why get it through GoG though if you have the store version?  Is there something wrong with the store version?

DLC from directory perspective is only one folder working like a mod. So here is what I did: I have ksp both on steam and gog, bought the DLC on gog as well. And it installed in its directory, but since I play on Gog version on 1.3, I moved the DLC folder over to where steam version is. And it works there.

However, the DLC version is bound with game, so when either of them updates, you have to update the other as well, otherwise it won't work (at least for me, I didn't see the missions after game updated)

Thanks for your answers, it seems that there is no real answer to it.

Steam is not compatible with anything that is true for sure, you are saying that GOG version can be installed just like a mod?

If no one is sure about it, maybe I will try it.

Actually I bought KSP on store a few years ago, but since that I started to use GOG, and at the moment it is on sale there.

I live in central europe so the price is important for me, especially since it got mixed reviews, so I don't want to waste my money.

As far as I can tell, it just loads a new folder into GameData just like a mod.  I don't know if there are any other differences, but I cannot image there are.  I suppose you could message GoG and see what they say.  They may allow a refund if it doesn't work.

Thank you for your comments.

GOG's answer was that if I buy the DLC from them, then it is only compatible with their version of the game.

This might help for others too.

Furtunately the DLC is on sales on KSPstore at the moment, so I can buy it there.

This topic is solved officially.

By this logic, most mods written for the Store/Steam version of KSp would not be compatible with the GoG version.  Do have a link to this statement, or contact info for those who said it?

I think perhaps an official comment on this from squad would be appropriate as one of their retailers is supposedly selling an altered version of the software.   @Darth Badie?
