Why can't I fill my plane with passengers in one go?

I've got a big airliner that holds over 200 passengers. However, I can only seem to get about 10 Kerbals at one time. If I go to the astronaut complex, it tells me I have over 60 available, but I never get everyone when I return to the spaceplane hangar. I keep having to go back and forth, back and forth to no purpose other than spending a lot of time. This is sandbox mode, so I find this somewhat frustrating. Is there a way around this?

You can turn on the option to automatically hire people in the difficulty settings.

your kerbals should all apear in the select crew menu. Make sure they are not dead or on a mission.

You wouldn't happen to have a crew management mod installed do you?  Like crew R&R?  Sometimes crew are on vacation or something, and might be listed as available, but aren't.

@Gargamel: no, no mods. I think it is just the way the game is.  I just wish I could get 300 Kerbals in one shot.

When crewing a big vessel just use the "fill" button bottom left

The fill button only pulls all the available Kerbals in the spaceplane hangar. So, I wind up with a list of 6-8, press fill, they occupy the seats, and then I go back to the astronaut complex, get more, repeat the process over and over and over.

Oh, I think I get what you're saying.   the Astro complex only provides a handful of kerbals per visit.    Yeah yeah, this is stock.   It makes sense too, as you wouldn't have 200 candidates in your astronaut school, but only a couple potential candidates that are ready for the big leagues. 

The KSP designers never rightly never really expected a player to need that many kerbals at once, so they just didn't make it easy to get them.   There may be a way to increase the number of candidates in the AC.

So to save on clicking (possibly), and at least load times,  Buy your kerbals, exit back to the KSC view, time warp for a bit, then back into the AC, and buy some more.  Rinse and repeat.   That should be faster than going through the VAB.
