McDonnell's V-1 Flying "Jeep".

Apparently it's a kind of helicopter - but I'm not sure... :)

Think the idea was that you could put lots of stuff in the center like an caro or passenger pod, perhaps an turret.

The recolless rifle show is stupid as the backblast would easy hit the pilot.  Putting an flamethrower on it is as shown also stupid as its an short range weapon, the downdraft don't help.

Genesis Sample Return.

Or how NASA planned and executed an impressive 27 months mission collecting ions from space, just to lithobreak the thing because they inverted a sensor and the chutes didn't opened.

Just like when we save a doomed mission just to reach Kerbin's atmosphere ans realize we got out of electricity to kick the chutes!

Secondary control compartment.
Ships can be steered from the machine room or an place near it, they control the speed anyway and the machines to move the rudder is nearby, you can obviously not see anything but this is an emergency is bridge is destroyed, say an fire or with collision with an bridge.

I read the article, its for testing ejections seats, who is pretty smart,

Am I the only one who thinks wet workshops are weird?

Like we're going to launch a rocket stage with a docking port on it and once the fuel is depleted we're going to put experiments and live inside the fuel tank. And we're also going to just pile up the trash in the smaller tank.

But this allows for a giant living space ( imagine shuttle ET stations)

I say it makes sense in some places. One idea is to use an Starship designed for this as an moon base. You need modifications like insulation on the outside and probably strengthening of the hull.
it would be smart to lower this down in an ditch and cover with regolit to protect from radiation and micro meteors. Front part is designed as living space but for it laid down flat.

Here I see it as an good idea to have an access hatch to the methane tank. and in the common bulkhead. This ares would be bare steel but they could be used for all sort of purposes like storage. or an gym.
Thought of making one an hangar but removing the rear bulkhead and trust structure would be an pain.

I think this would be slightly problematic for hypergolics or hydrazine!! :P

Unless you're a Krieger or Helghan anyway.

  • 2 weeks later...

Lippisch's Dornier Aerodyne

No wings, and as the P13a, the cockpit (if this thing would develop into) would be on the Vertical Stabilizer...

I didn't found any video in EN-US better than this one em PT-BR, but there are translated captions to EN-US available.

Look! It's got a trunk!

I just remembered that a friend of mine's fater, when I was a teenager, had one of these Honda N600 (we called it "hondinha"):

1280px-1967-1968_Honda_N360_Type_M.jpg

Obviously, with the driver on the left side. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_N360

The idea was to teach me how to drive. I'm 1:80, had about 90Kg at that time - I barely manage to enter the car, but got stuck and didn't found my way out! I had to be extracted from the car, almost destroyed the seat... :D

I also remember a history about a dude living on a condo I used to pass when going to see my girlfriend, I remember seeing one of these minicars parked there now and then, and obviously remembered that tragic incident of my youth. I remember passing there once and seeing that hondinha firmly put on a kinda of concrete table that condo used to keep the trash out of the reach of stray dogs, that thing had exactly the size of the minicar and was about 1 meter high.

"Somebody got really liquided about his car", I though to myself. I commented that with my girlfriend, that happened to have a friend living on that condo and called him. Well... The car's owner picked a fight with a neighbor that so called some friends in the late night and carried the car into the trash table... The dry weight of that thing was less than 500 KGs, 3 dudes like me could easily get the thing off the ground, 4 surely could rise it above 1 meter without hassle.

I wish I had a camera with me at that time (hey, it was middle 90s, digital cameras were cumbersome and extremely expensive - and used 3.5" floppy disks as media!), that picture would be epic... :D

It has been an common high school and student prank to lift up and carry small cars many teachers used but it was mostly putting it between two trees, pilars or dumpsters then perhasp rotate the car so the bumpers touched them.
I was at an class party at an cabin during the winter, no place to park so we just drove the cars off the road and into the snow, as we was 30 it was just to bump them up on the road again.
A bit harder with an electric SUV.
