Need a pod in Unity to take a look at - have some now

Recommended Posts

I've been working on a number of parts, one of which is a pod, but I've run into problems getting a working airlock and ladder set up.

I've reduced the problems I had, but I'm still having issues, even though the appear to set up in Unity as described here.

If anyone has a Unity file of a working pod, or any other part that includes a hatch and airlock, that they could pass on to me, it would be much appreciated.

I just updated the Door (now Airlock) and Ladder file demo's and added some notes on things I've seen go wrong. Both are working in 151.

Thanks... I'll download and see what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks @wasml and @Poodmund with your examples, I now have a working airlock and ladder on my pod.

Once I had these it took 5 minutes to apply the fix and test it :)

I had two issues, one was a misreading of part of this thread which describes the setup fot airlocks and ladders. In particular I'd misread a part about "the origin of the model MUST be inside the model area that acts as a physics collider" to mean that the origin of the ladder and airlock had to be within the collider for my pod. I now read this as refering to the origin of the pod being inside its collider. A pretty stupid interpretation by me in hindsight, but at the time I was focused on these two parts, rather than the one they are attached to.

The other issue was that I was placing the airlock and ladder objects in the location of these visually on the pod, rather than where the kerbal should be placed (i.e. their origin being some distance from the pod surface) when using them. My old set up would have had the kerbal placed overlapping the collider for the pod... probably not a good idea, instead of outside of it.

Anyway, thanks again.
