"Warp to maneuver" button on navball maneuver indicator.

Recommended Posts

I've been doing a lot of solo missions, and therefore have not needed Kerbal Alarm Clock, for most of 1.6.x. Therefore, I've been using the stock "warp to maneuver node" ability in map mode.

For times when I'm not in map mode, or can't easily see/determine what part of the orbit is after the maneuver node but still in the correct SOI, I'd love a "warp to" button on the navball itself. I suggest putting it on the dV indicator, as in this poorly made mockup.

If you support this please also +1 it on the bug tracker: https://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/21006

I hope that everyone who clicked 'Like' also clicked through to upvote on the tracker, since that's what will determine whether this gets dev attention.

Do you mean the stars for the thread rating or another tracker?

If the later then no I did not.

You mean the official "Suggestions and Development" section on the official forum isn't a good place to give suggestions on development?

Does the forum allow the devs to sort threads by number of likes?

EDIT: At some point in the future (possibly recent past?), SQUAD will go through a process to select projects for 1.7, 1.8, etc. This may consist of a team meeting or of one senior dev/manager drawing up a list, but either way they will probably draw from a combination of internal TODO items and user feedback. The goal then is to get noticed during that process. A forum thread by itself will show up at the top of the list for a day or two, then fade into obscurity after it drops off the first page. A bug tracker entry by contrast is persistent, and if has a lot of upvotes, it will easily float toward the top of the list.

This thread's OP is actually an excellent example of how to use both effectively. A feedback entry on the tracker to record the request formally, collect votes, and conduct strictly relevant discussions. A forum thread to attract attention, build support, and direct it to the place where it can make a difference (as well as conducting random irrelevant discussion like you're reading right now). Kudos to @5thHorseman for that.

A more dry technical industry programme I use is powered by the same forums community does have a sperate upvote for the forums that i understand ties to their tracker.

~snip~

Perhaps a Community Manager could follow what the community is talking about, take notes, and possibly bring such things up in such meetings?

Unfortunately, your logic is sound.  This sub-forum seems little more than a venting outlet at this point.  I'm not even sure the bug tracker is the right place for such requests.  Still.  This is what it's come to it seems.

I don't really care if it is or not. I just want the feature.

I mean.  You posted here.  Surely, you do care somewhat whether Squad is aware of this sub-forum, and the things that go on there in.

Not really. My expectation was pretty much what @HebaruSan thought: That the bug report was the correct place to make the request, and this post was to direct users to it.

I'll surely not be sad if a developer sees this thread, thinks "What a great idea" and bangs it out in a day, and then later someone marks the feature request "already finished" with no other comments. But I don't expect it by any means.

Love this idea - as always "there's a mod for that!" (Better time warp) but it would be really great to have a simple button in the stock game.

Hmm I've never tried it because I use my own mod WarpEverywhere but a quick perusal doesn't show me a "warp to" button being a feature.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
