Is there a "copy" or "duplicate" command when making a rocket?

Recommended Posts

Hold alt when you click on it.  Just get the part(s) you want to copy highlighted, hold alt, and left click.

I think, anyway.  I'm pretty sure it's alt on Windows.  I'm on Linux, it's right shift for me.

It is indeed "alt" on windows. I guess this difference across the operating systems is the reason, why this key is also known as the "mod" key ;)

Is it either Alt key?  Note that Left Shift for me does nothing.

I've actually never tried it and had to launch the game to test it :D

Looks like it's just the left alt key, even though the right alt key is defined as "secondary" in the settings.cfg.

I had to do the same with my response... which happens often.  It's all second nature now, I don't actually consciously know what buttons I'm pressing most of the time.

I've mapped cycle symmetry secondary to my forward mouse button, which I keep forgetting to do on the computer at work.  It's so much work to actually hit X.  I also can't tell you how many screenshots I've missed because I've forgotten to map the back mouse button to take a screenshot.

I hope too many people haven't gotten frustrated over being told that a key is "alt" if it's just "left alt" and they were trying "right alt".  Plus, don't some keyboards only have one alt button?

What key grabs the whole craft even though you didn't grab the root part?

Huh.  Apparently left shift.

I didn't even know it was doing that, I figured I'd grabbed the root.  I've always just grabbed the root when I needed to move the whole thing.

The typical "gaming" position for the left hand is above WASD anyway, isn't it? So the first key to try would be the left alt key, to keep this "natural" position and I'm actually surprised the mod key is right shift on linux. Even in the VAB/SPH this is a pretty inconvenient position since all the other important keys are on the left side as well (X, C, 1, 2, 3, 4, left shift).
Just in case you didn't know it already: 1, 2, 3 and 4 can be used to switch between the place, move, rotate and re-root tool ;)
