Recommended Posts

Notes2Log is a small utility which will let you put notes into the log file, useful when debugging or looking for problems.

The screen has 3 areas; a title of the note at the top, the note area in the main center, and a list of available notes on the left.

Availability

Available via CKAN

Buttons

  • Write to log - Writes the current note (not the title) to the log
  • Save - Save the current note for future use
  • Delete - Delete the current note from the save notes
  • Clear - Clear the current note

Dependencies

Usage

Refer to the images below for the following.  Buttons are bolded:

  • Alt.Skin - Change the skin used
  • Note: Enter the note title here, used for reference, NOT written to the log
  • Text area:  Enter the note here
  • Write to Log:  Write the current note to the log
  • Save: Save the current note for future use.  The title will be added to the list along the lft
  • Delete: Delete the current note
  • Clear: Clear the current note

@linuxgurugamer Thanx for this mod. I use KSPDev Log Console in every install... I quickly end up with literally dozens of logs very quickly, when troubleshooting.
I was hoping to use Notes2Log in addition to it.

However, upon first installing N2L, game loads to the Main Screen... and then clicking on ANY of the Main Menu Items... *does nothing*

I mean, the text highlights on click... but nothing else happens.

I didnt have a lot of mods installed, so i removed most. I first thought this might be a conflict with KSPDev Log Console, since they both interact with the logs.
But I tested the same install, both with/without each mod.
Its definately N2L...either itself, or interacting with one of the very few mods i do have left in the install

Not sure why it's locking up, you have two problems that I can see

  • Exception in the ToolbarController: "ReflectionTypeLoadException: Exception of type 'System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException' was thrown"
  • Missing SpaceTuxLibrary

Do you have Blizzy installed?  Please make sure there aren't any remnants from it, if you aren't using it.

Ahhh... ok
so, I did fresh install of KSP, and few other of your mods, TC being one...
same issue...
Then I installed SpaceTux Library, and it *seems* to work.

I install mods manually, and idk if this mod is on CKAN or not, but you might want to add SpaceTux as a dependency in the OP. ;) I assume CTB & TC are also dependencies?
I have those installed by default in ANY modded KSP install, so I just made that assumption ;)

However, now that it seems to be woring for me, when I look at the KSP.log, I dont see the created note anywhere? vOv

I thought it was, I'll add it, and yes, it is in CKAN, I'll check that as well

New release 0.0.2

  • Changed from using Dictionary to List
  • Increased title width
  • Updated version file with correct info

Look in the Player.Log.

Re. the dependencies, I'm embarrassed that I totally neglected to put in that section to the OP.  It's now there, CKAN was already correct

Also added some instructions to the OP

Uhh.. my bad.. I *did* loo at it quicly once, but I musta missed it
Would it be possible to get this to wor for KSP.log, as well, without a whole lot of work? If yes/mebbe, I can create a feature request on repo, as reminder for the future ;)

Pffftt... With literally several hundred mods to herd, I think we can cut you some slack, there... lol ;)

I have no idea about the KSP.log.  go ahead.  If it's not too difficult. I'll do it.

You can also look in Logs/SpaceTuxLibrary, my logging libraries now write individual logs there.  May not be helpful for this, but can be extremely helpful for other logs
