Under $100 preferably. I don't play other flight sims.

Gamepad controllers are cheaper still if you don't mind.... just putting it out there.

Don't know where you live.... but in the USA $100 is not much money, especially when working full-time.

So if you are not then I could see how it could be expensive to you, when it is not so much if you have the money for it. But if you don't.... then work for it.

Not old enough? No problem. You could teach english online to some other country, or tutor some kids online.

So many options that will pay you in experience that will serve you well even when not playing KSP.

haha $100 is not much money :D Don't I know it. Inflation is a helluva drug. I can afford more, but are joysticks really that expensive? I didn't even do any research before posting here. The last joystick I bought was for Jane's USAF, and it uses a gameport connector (I think).

If joysticks are just that expensive then give me your recommendations disregarding the $100 preference.

I do not have any recommendations per se, but Bestbuy stores (if one is nearby) will sell you a gamepad for considerably less.

Joysticks can be bought for less than a hundred but they tend to break from use easily (the rotating ball).

I am not anti-joystick, I just know of too many cases where they broke... I have never, ever had a gamepad break on me and I was a die-hard nearly *liquid* myself gamer growing up.

Think about it.... joystick makers have little incentive to make joysticks NOT break.

Gamepads due to design cannot break easily, because mashing buttons is an easier affair than a rotating ball with pressure on it.

No matter what you buy you will have to configure it. Google will help but the OS you use matters.

Ubuntu will have records of lines of code you can copy to configure directly into the system for you... windows I am not sure but likely a bunch of downloade and a bit of configuring through a GUI.

I’d be hard pressed to justify spending more than $20 on a joystick for KSP.   I have my HOTAS setup, but all I ever would want in KSP would be a stick.   A simple zero button stick would do me fine.

How’s that doing for you?  I think the last time I tried using it, the controls I the VAB were opposite of my normal CAD suite and I think I started to get motion sick.    Never took the time to get it straightened out.    I could see it working nicely for docking though.
