TwoCalories Posted August 16, 2023 Share Posted August 16, 2023 Here's our game plan: All the Evening Star stations have a large escape module that can house all 100 passengers. The problem is that MJ-0 disabled it. All the passengers are locked inside the escape pod. A Ranger carrying Jeb and Val as copilots, along with Bill and Bob for support (and two Interstellar-style robots named DONN and GALE), will intercept Evening Star-005 and dock to the emergency airlock. CCC Ranger-Lites (they will be called Talon Squadron) will provide a distraction by destroying unessential/uncrewed elements of the station. Val, Bob and DONN will remain in the Ranger (call their ship Ranger-1), while Jeb, Bill (we need an engineer), and GALE will find a logistics center nearby. Bill and GALE will tap into Evening Star-005's security network and clear the Escape Pod to detach. Then they'll skedaddle out of there in the Ranger-1 while the Ranger-Lites destroy the station. *** Jeb and friends (along with two support robots) are on their way to the station when they narrowly dodge a missile. Some more missiles are coming! Jeb shoots one single flare, that is somehow enough for the missiles. He turns off most electronics and turns on stealth mode. We're invisible to the radar. For now. Aerodynamic Kerbal Posted August 16, 2023 Share Posted August 16, 2023 We immediately dock with the station. Jeb, Bill and GALE rush into it. GALE finds a computer and hacks it. He finds the nearest Logistics Center. They go over to it and Bill deactivates the entire station security. The Escape Pod can detach safely. But civilians are dumb enough to not know how to push a giant red button which says "DETACH". So one kerbal has to leave with the escape pod. We have to choose who goes. But out of nowhere, oh no! MJ-0 is coming through a dark hallway with a red lightsaber! We lock the door so we're somewhat safe now. But now we can't reach the Escape Pod AND the Ranger-1. What do we do? It is close, but GALE slices MJ-0 to pieces. MJ-0 transferred to a different body, so he is still alive for now. GALE volunteers to push the "detach" button. He insists on being left behind, but Jeb insists that if GALE blows himself out of the Escape Pod's airlock after detaching, they can swoop in with the Ranger-1 and catch him. What do we do? And when we sent NEST to Vall, his last words were "Do not", which presumably means "Do not come", sooo... Ah, whatever. CCC gives the all clear. Let's wait on the KSC. TwoCalories Posted September 4, 2023 Share Posted September 4, 2023 (edited) The CCC sends a Bravo-Class IXV (Interplanetary eXploration Vehicle), named Bravo-19, to Vall, carrying Jeb, Val, Bill, Bob, GALE, and DONN. Jeb and Bob are dispatched with DONN to the surface onboard Ranger-1, while Val and Bill wait on Bravo-19. Spoiler Just a little info about the Bravo-Class IXV. They use mostly 2.5m habitats, with a 5m fuel tank and engine sections. They have two drop tanks of the same diameter. They run on Timberwind NTR engines, and are powered by solar panels. They have a centrifuge habitat and two Rangers and one heavy lander, which are named Fortress. They carry a maximum of six crew and two support robots. (The Rangers, Fortress Landers, and support robots are all inspired by Interstellar. The ship designs and robots do have some utility, and they're just cool, so the CCC uses them.). He thinks that this one is probably unrelated...? The heroes board their Ranger and fly over to the second anomaly. They land their ship some distance away just in case and walk the rest of the way. They find a huge army of MechJebs, with MJ-0 leading them. DONN also spots the damaged Ranger-41, and the mangled remains of NEST, which fills him with anger. We have them in our sights. What do we do? Spoiler A post like this from the perspective of Jeb and his friends should technically be made by a Jeb's Friends team member, but those robots are also technically CCC robots, so I say this is fair. He then tells DONN and GALE to quickly load up NEST's remains onto one of the Rangers for investigation. GALE volunteers to pilot Ranger-2 back to Bravo-19 while DONN and Ranger-1 pursues MJ-0. He volunteers because GALE got all the action last time. DONN and the crew board Ranger-1 and activate VTOL and engines at the same time! Manfred Kerman was confused as nobody knew he was alive as he was presumed dead since 1982. Even more confusing is that he has committed no betrayal or disregard for public safety. The staff at the CCC-DA catch's him up on what Sigman Kerman has done along with the rest of the CCC-DA. In Manfred's rage he decides to fire all the remaining staff of the CCC-DA. He decides to stay in the Bunker but takes his time as only 4 people still alive knows the location. Spoiler And all of them refuse to share the location.
