Retrograde, Prograde buttons etc. beside the navball. how do you turn them on?

hey all, I have tried to turn on these buttons so I dont have to manually position my ship but to no avail, I have no idea where they are located in KSP settings, could somebody please help?

Welcome to the forum @MilkshakeNebula,  if you are you playing career mode you need to upgrade the tracking station 1 level and mission control 1 level to access patched conics. Also, some probe cores do not have manoeuvre abilities, the KSP wiki explains the probes capabilities.

they are normally on the left of the navisphere and you click them with the mouse, but as @James Kerman explained, you need some prerequisites for them.

what's your specific situation?

Press T to turn them on. If the craft is spinning, doing that will also stop the ship from spinning if it has reaction wheels and/or RCS

@James Kermanthanks for the info, and I have both mission control and tracking station upgraded, @king of nowhere. also thanks for the advice @Maria SironaI'll try that in game. sorry for how long I took to reply I was busy with some stuff. also thanks for the nice welcome james!

also I normally use the Probodobodyne Stayputnik for anything experimental (so not that often, but now I know why it doesnt have these abilities so thanks for that james!) and that I know won't get into orbit and for anything else, the first space crew capsule you get in career mode and the plane cockpit (depending on if Im going for a traditional rocket, or a space plane)

Also it's worth mentioning that you can make all probe cores have full SAS capability in the difficulty settings. In the pause screen, there's the "settings" button, by which you can adjust visuals amd stuff. In the very top of the settings screen there is a big button for going into the difficulty settings. There you can adjust this and many other things!

ooooh thanks, the difficulty setting will be useful but I probably won't because I like having that realism, but it'll be useful for any future endeavors! thanks for the advice!
