aNERVASman
do you think KSP2 will have ground effect? it's one of the things that causes planes to have more lift near the surface than in the air which means that if it gets added one could make vehicles that glide over the seas of planets for example
Vl3d
You can make powered gliders already, they're called aeroplanes. What does ground effect add that regular lift does not?

It would add flying vehicles that automatically stabilize themselves at a certain height above the ground, without even needing to use SAS. Personally, I would only se this feature being added as part of a larger atmosphere physics overhaul

Also, Ekranoplans.

What does ground effect add that regular lift does not? A "cushioning" effect near the ground that makes slowing descent rate to a tolerable limit/avoiding colliding with the terrain easier, but putting the plane down before running out of runway/ putting down on rough terrain harder

They weren't asking for "powered gliders", a word you brought up, they were asking for a feature to enhance the aerodynamic realism of the game.
