since mars has an atmosphere, it depends on how well your ship can aerobrake. though stock parachutes are not effective on mars, so you'll need some 2 km/s unless you have some modded parachutes. i assume you're talking the real mars, and not duna.

also, your description is not particularly helpful, because you don't specify if you're in a circular orbit or in an elliptic one, nor what you need to do or with what. if you want more specific answers, you need to be more specific.
