Career mode food/water

Recommended Posts

I think it would be interesting to include Food/water requirements into career mode.  Nothing to tedious, say standard command modules come stocked with 5-10 days food, and with cargo bays you could load up a couple years worth of food on a rocket if you wanted.  I just think it would be neat to have a reason for sending re-supply missions to space stations.  Eventually you would unlock 0G farming modules that would negate the need to ship up food.  Just something I think about every time I notice poor Bob who ran out of fuel on his way back from Duna and has been living in his little command module on his own special orbit for the last 5 years with no food or water

Why not just make Kerbalism stock, it's a game changer that makes the game what it always should have been.

As long as it a switchable feature and not forced. Like have it editable in the difficulty settings.

I have heard that life support is going to be a thing in KSP2 (source: Discord discussions so "grain of salt"), however it wasn't going to kill Kerbals if it failed/wasn't present - it would just reduce their effectiveness (how wasn't discussed, not that I read).

I imagine a "simple life support system" would require power and just be a module, or series of modules, to provide "quality of life" to Kerbals on a craft. We have seen rotating sections (in trailers and pictures) - which would suggest that artificial gravity (via centrifugal rotation) is important (if they're not simply just larger capacity Kerbal storage).

I'm guessing Life Support parts are either going to come with Colonies or with Interstellar parts - if I were the devs (and Life Support is going to be a thing), I'd release Life Support parts with Colonies so players can get used to them before we start going interstellar (so incorporating them into designs isn't "new" when dealing with designing an interstellar ship).

I'm guessing the colonies update. But I like the idea of life support

Settings like this would (or at the very least *should*) definitely be a feature you could turn off (like Kerbal deaths and the Comms network in KSP1 or the "infinite fuel" in KSP2).
