Notes:

1. Nearly all sites I explored showed up as Biome: Ocean despite being on what otherwise appears to be dry land.
2. If you want the absolute maximum advantage while launching, pick Launchpad 4 - it's both the highest and closest to the equator - though if this matters to your rocket then you've probably got much more serious issues than which pad to launch from. 
3. The boat launch is fairly deep, and unless your rover floats you're headed for the bottom if you "launch" there.

As a side note, does anyone know how to get a Kerbal to ascend/descend while swimming? ;-)

Kerbals could never dive in KSP 1, but with KIS and later the default inventory system  you could load up kerbals so heavy they would sink, you would have to drop the item to get up again.

There is an ocean below the KSC.  You can access it by making a small lander with a medium ladder and climbing down through the tarmac...and just let go.

There is a pool? 

Now one thing's on my mind, can we catch fish there?

I don't play the fishing minigames that now seem to be utterly ubiquitous in any sandbox/open world/survival/crafting/farming game unless mechanically I absolutely have to.

And that being said, even though I personally don't play them, I 1000% endorse adding a fishing thing in KSP2. Fish in the pool? find an old space suit boot. Fish on Eve? who knows. It fits the Kerbalness. I have tried to get people into games and they resisted until the moment they saw the fishing in the trailer. It is wild how much that drives some people.

It also fits how in KSP1 the "EVA experiment kit" animation changed per location. Just make some cosmetic fun ones. I could imagine in far post-1.0 releases, they add more items that do things. A fishing rod. A bucket which when used makes a sandcastle that is different for every planetary body (and you can scoop a bucket of Duna dirt and make Duna's sandcastle on Eve). Even something as simple as "Prop" that is a mystery until you use it at a given location.

Not only is there a pool, but there's a capsule *in* the pool! Hence my ask about how to get Kerbals to dive... I can swim over the dan thing, but I wanna get down a couple meters to see if I can open the hatch and climb in!

I knew about that one from your previous post, but I sort of figured the coordinates for the ocean... Uh... Where? It's kinda everywhere - so not much in the way of precise coordinates... ;-)

Never tested anywhere but the one time. 

 

Maybe you discovered new lore?  The land of the Space Frogs is a giant lily pad floating on the World Ocean!
