Get rid of purple rings in map view/tracking station?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, I encountered a problem some days ago. I didn't touch KSP for a while, so I don't know which mod/game feature might cause this but it is really annoying as I only want to see the green/orange connection lines between satellites mostly. And those purple rings are just crowding the whole tracking station view

I figured it was by SCANsat and is supposed to show which part of a surface is being scanned but also satellites without any scan-tech have these rings.

(Switching CommNET doesnt fix)

Please help someone as it is really annoying and I wouldn't really like to delete every single Mod to check which one might be causing it.

Thx

Okay, two things

A. I'd suggest using Imgur instead of whatever dodgy bitcoin miner "yourimageshare" is supposed to be. Then you can use "copy image address" instead of the address in the search bar to embed the image.

B. We cannot help you if you do not give us the tools we need to help you. Please, tell us what mods you are using.

Thank you :)

I don't think it's Scansat, it's interface looks different:

It looks mod-related but I don't know which mod it could be. A modlist would be helpful. But a few questions to ask first:

Did you change something in the settings? If not, if you look through settings is there some option that could disable it? Is there a UI setting in the bottom right corner of your screen that's enabled?

Did you install any new mods recently?

Which version are you using? I'm still using 1.10.1 so I'm not sure if that's something related to 1.11 or 1.12 or not.

One way to fix it could be to uninstall mods one by one as you said, but since you don't want to do that does removing satellites from the UI fix the problem? Are there any parts you know of that could be related to this effect?

I hope this helps somewhat.

If any obvious garbage mods are among those (or two mods doing the same thing), please tell me.

And SCANsat by now isn't shown green in CKAN so maybe does someone know an alternative? Or if it is a drawback feature/update-wise to roll KSP back to version 1.10? (1.10.8 to be exact)

Ok so for anyone who might also get this 'Bug'.
Uninstalling every mod until it got fixed: The cause was 'RealAntenna'

Had to uninstall the mod and revert to a 3 week old savefile but better than completely losing two stations who got an antenna module docked in the meantime

Those are directional antenna cones produced by Real Antennas. Switch the CommNet visualisation mode to “first hop” or “path” and most of them will go away while still showing the most useful information for the active vessel.

Yeah thanks I figured that out by now but I honestly want to see my whole Network in the tracking station and I don't see any advantage or even what these huge cones are supposed to tell me so i removed RealAntennas for now. Any advise what they really are or used to do?

And maybe a way to disable the cones only?

RealAntennas is a requirement for Realism Overhaul and is meant to more accurately portray real communications systems with large dishes only able to send and receive signals in a fairly narrow area depending on where they’re pointing (though RA doesn’t go into quite that much detail, you don’t have to physically point the dish at Earth to get it to work as real spacecraft do). Not really recommended for stock-ish KSP.
