Suggesting: Ability to convert Ksp 1 Saves and Vessels to Ksp 2

Recommended Posts

This could be great, we all spend lot of time at Ksp 1, it would be great traveling between Ksp 1 and Ksp 2 world, bring old worlds to new.

There are worlds where brains has used hundreds of hours time, let's not get that time go waste.

The parts are completely different, some never made a return, the worlds have different surfaces and some even got axial tilt, the science system will be different, the career mode will never appear, Kerbals don't have classes or experience levels...

Impossible.

That could possibly be done with a mod that recreated the KSP1 parts and tech tree, made any stuff that works differently backwards compatible (joints and autostrut for example), and changed the progression mechanics to fit them. The celestial bodies would also have to be changed to be near identical to the KSP1 ones so your landed craft wouldn’t be in the air or underground or on water. You’d also have to disable some features they said they’re implementing, like collidable ground scatter, because your saved craft could end up inside a boulder. Then you could figure out how to convert crafts and saves.

But it would be a really big project! Also I’m not really sure it would be worth it, you’d have to change so much it wouldn’t be that different from KSP1.

Yeah. I mean, if the goal of the project is to create KSP 1... just play KSP 1. It'd be less effort to implement KSP 2 QOL stuff into KSP 1 as opposed to recreating KSP 1 entirely.
