My plan was to land my Base (>300t) on Duna.
It includes

  • 6 Methalox Fuel Towers
  • 2 Xenon Tanks (Integrated in the trusses)
  • 2 Hydrogen Tanks (also Integrated in the trusses)
  • Monopropellant tanks
  • A Spaceplane (incl. port)
  • A Rover (incl. port)
  • div. electrical and science equipment
  • lots of docking ports
  • chutes!
  • even more chutes!!!

Mission Report (in spoiler):

Spoiler

I sent it to space all at once, because.... I can!

Lets pack it up!

Not enough chutes... Impact with 50m/s

Reloaded at save when still in Orbit around Duna and sent a Chutes-Backup-mission. 12 Drones with chutes which can dock to my base

But still not enough chutes. 30m/s impact. I need propelled landing support!
So back to orbit and call for help!

Finally a smooth landing! Mission Accomplished

Who will assamble this mess now?
Did you pack your building instructions and allen key???

It was veeery tedious. Encountered multiple (already known) bugs, like docking ports not docking, spontaneous disassambly during load, disappearing orbital lines, ...

And between 5 and 15 FPS. Even less during atmospheric flight on duna

Everybody is building such big, fancy stuff lately. :)

Why not? After FS! released, a big chunk (or should I say a "BIG 'N HUSKY" chunk ;)) of the lag was reduced! That doesn't make it so that my massive mothership with over 1500 parts can make it to orbit above 1 FPS but, hey, we got a long road ahead of us. And congrats on the mission @Bingmao! That mission is no joke!

Impressive, my plan is to launch an large fuel tank with 6 long medium tanks, H beams for landing legs and 6 of the shuttle engines you are using to land. They are very heat tolerant so no heat shields are needed.
6 large droges and 18 normal radial parachutes, still need engines to land but plan to launch this back into orbit as an fuel depot for landers. It will be more than enough :)

Its coming but will take time design verified in sandbox but launch is 50 days in the future. Have to launch 4 ships to Jool before it. Manned Jool moon mission, Tylo 2 landers with probe rovers. Laythe and Jool focused probes and a tanker as you always want them. Also has to get down to low Eve orbit to pick up 6k science and leach some hydrogen from the now empty probe carrier.
