What are you watching on the small Screen?

I know some televisions have gotten quite large but the colloquial extends to serialized viewing.

I remember the first novel I read. Dragons of Autumn Twilight at 8 years old. Prior to this point in my life.. I had only *thought* I was addicted to stories.

The Nancy Drew (Way Better Than Hardy Boys) style story while compelling... failed to capture my imagination & truly inspire awe.

The Weiss & Hickman book was party of a trilogy thay would go on to create one of the best selling Campaign Settings for Dungeons and Dragons.

This is where my love of stories began. While the Silver Screen has many successful forays into storytelling.. I feel the need for immediate ROI & propensity for enlisting major celebrities has doomed many adaptations to failure.

When I got divorced in 2014 I hauled off over 2500 novels & 1200 DVDs (most series) to the warehouse size books store Mckays used books.

(Shout out if you know this place)

Now I have extended my voracious appetite into the realm of audio books & prefer series over movies.

At the moment I have churned through most of the newer content available and have turned tp older character dramas to keep me interested.

Current Dramas

Suits (just finished)

Rizzoli and Isle

Waiting on all episodes of Evil & Open Range to air before I binge them

tv is dead. mostly watching shows from the 70s.

its actually fun to watch dragnet just to see how much the law enforcement landscape has changed in the last 50 years. most of the cop shows ive watched have been post dirty harry so its somewhat interesting to see good guy cops for a change.

all in the family is another one modern people need to be watching. if nothing else other than to show that people with vastly different opinions can coexist peacefully.

I gravitate to the older sshows. When many of the classic transitioned to "nick at nite" I was tickled.

I'm slightly past middle aged of the male disposition and watch golden girls at least 3 nights a week.

Dragnet is an awesome show. Haven't watched it in years but it really is responsible for inspiring an entire generation of "cop" shows.

Get Smart is probably one of my all time favorite shows. I had forgotten all about the old show until I saw the reboot scroll across my recommendations.. nearly cried.

There are some decent shows out there, amd even some decent actros.

I guess it probably is similiar to the gaming industry. I miss the focus being on detailed staging & characters with depth.

My wife and I watched Fallout on Amazon. It was worth watching, will definitely watch the second season when it get released. Both seasons of Reacher were actually really good as well.

My wife and kids still watch Survivor and Amazing Race, although I mostly tune out when they're on.

Other than that we're watching some older series on DVD, which are all in various stages of progress: Babylon 5 (almost finished with the fourth season), Sherlock (halfway through the first series), and Pushing Daisies (just started the second season). At some point when we're mostly done with those we're going to start on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which is a pretty big commitment.

When we're feeling like watching a movie we're working our way through the James Bond films, since I got the complete series on Blu-Ray for Christmas. I decided to start the kids on the new ones, since I thought those would capture their attention more, so we just watched Skyfall about a month ago. (We've had a lot going on this month.)

i remember i did doctor who, all of it, and it took six months easy. even the ones where most of the footage was missing (in some cases it was just the audio). had i known how they were going to mangle the series later on, i probably would have not done it.
