Mission Control requests that you get out and perform an inspection of an unidentified flying object in orbit. They tell you that you have to see this.

Yecwr0A.png

You don't get it. It's just a painting. Not good, but not that bad either. You ignore Mission Control's fervent requests that you bring this beautiful painting of a horse back to Kerbin, because you are a twat with a horrible taste in art. You couldn't recognize a masterpiece if it hit you at 1025 m/s.

You tell them it's stupid and you'll leave it as it is. They say you're being treacherous by denying their orders. Dumbest story you ever heard. You motion for these <people> to calm down.

Expanded my station, which is made primarily with KSO, with the One-Eye Industries parts I've been working on:

Didn't think to get pictures of rendezvous and docking, but here's the final product:

I'm loving how the docking ports turned out, too!

iOdEisP.gif

It's a completely functional Active/Passive setup- one port has to be active, the other has to be passive! Docking with them requires a high level of accuracy since the drogue on passive ports is so small. And yes, you need to get the probe into the drogue in order to dock. Many orders of magnitude cooler than the stock ports in my opinion.

A Cygnus II en route to the partially-complete Columbia Research Outpost:

dmxiHHI.png

It departed with 2 crew from the slightly-revised Skywatch Station. It now has smaller blanket arrays as opposed to the huge ones which generated more power than was needed, looked less cool, and actually proved a little difficult to navigate around.

Great job, Chadny! You've managed to make an epic mess on the launchpad! Look at those broken solar panels!

6Og04sk.png

Shortly afterwards, Chadny, Rouki, and Thomdrin went to Mun to become the first colonists (Chadny was not being punished, actually)

C5p0zo6.png

Chadny (left) is the Base Technician, Rouki (middle) is Base Commander, and Thomdrin is the Base's Scientist and Resident Derp, in charge of all things stupid as well as managing the Hydroponics and food supply.

Also, a moment of silence for Bartemone, who was killed in a terrible accident on his way to join the Mun colony's crew with a new rover. He was dependable, intelligent, and a wonderful friend. As a result of the accident, my space agency will be upping the safety of all rockets and designing a new launcher to replace the old but reliable Maiden series.

While the Falcon I've been using for various missions has proven itself reliable, I felt it was time for a new passenger spaceplane. Enter the Phoenix:

Wipxjqq.png

Same crew capacity as the Falcon but slightly increased fuel capacity and improved handling/stability, plus it looks much better in places.

PJvPwMg.png

The RAPIERs are more centered and thus the vehicle is more resistant to flame-out spins. That, and it can reach just over 1600ms-1 before needing to switch to rocket mode.

Jj3QWrp.png

Part of the test flight was to rendezvous with Skywatch Station to prove it could reach it and return. It did so flawlessly.

Jeb and Bill flew this mission. The main trio haven't really done anything lately, so it was nice for them to get some fresh* air.

8jvBu5D.png

A somewhat aggressive de-orbit lead to me undershooting KSC and flying through the mountains, but had I not undertaken such a burn, there's no doubt the Phoenix could make it to the runway with ease.

The Phoenix has a promising future ahead of it, now.

*Well, whatever constitutes fresh air in a sealed spaceplane cabin soaring through space...

Took the Vortex 1 for a spin today and did a ceiling test.

YFq5aPd.png

Max Altitude: 32,344 meters.

Max Speed: 1502 m/s

Pretty epic stuff, this means that the Vortex 1 is a viable candidate for being upgraded into an SSTO.

bs0eKAc.png

Cruising at 20km, still above Mach 3 at this point, I think.

N9dMP4S.png

Landed. This Vortex 1, piloted by Gusmin Kerman, flew across the ocean to the east of KSC to this peninsula and landed in under 18 minutes. Marathon International (formerly Marathon Aeronautics) will now be looking into developing an SSTO based off of the Vortex-series planes.
