theogameren
You see, new player, There are actually more hidden launch pads in the game than the KSC, Making History Launchsites, and Island Airfield. You've just discovered the... SPOILER: This is for you to find out for yourself in the game. Spoiler Cove Launch Site. The Cove Launch Site is for launching seaplanes straight to the ocean. If you fly close enough, you get a popup on your screen that says that you've unlocked the Cove Launch Site and can launch from it in the VAB. When you want to do so, Hover right under the launch button, and a menu will open. Select ''Cove Launch Site.'' Make sure that your plane points left in the VAB. Then, press launch and go! Meecrob
So are there clues to find this, or do you have to be one of those players that plays "Kerbal Within-Atmosphere Program" and spend all your time flying around Kerbin? Fizzlebop Smith
I found Glacier Lake while trying to get an absolutely ridiculous contract for splashed down in Taiga and was having terrible result locate. I noticed a blip on kerbnet IIRC and went berserk when I saw notification. Awesome feeling that first time Grats

Spoiler Your post wanted me to investigate it, lol! I was flying for 4 minutes, then i said "nevermind" and turned back home, atleast, that was what i wanted to do, until i saw it. Sadly i made a wrong turn and crashed into the water in front of it. I wanted to swim all the way to it, but luckily i didnt swim the whole way. (That would take ages!) jimmymcgoochie
There are at least four bonus launch sites that were added in KSP 1.12, scattered all across Kerbin. There are also easter eggs on pretty much every body in the Kerbol system that were added in 1.12, along with the randomly located green monolith (or "randolith") on each body that gives you a free tech unlock in career or science modes. Finding them can be done with KerbNet, though I'd suggest using the ScanSat mod instead as it's a whole lot easier and can be done passively by bunging a satellite with a scanner into orbit and waiting for it to do it passively over time. purpleivan
I've got something over 3000 hours in the game and I had no idea that this stuff had been added. Almost all my playing time was 2014-2020, so these additions in v1.12 (in 2021) slipped under the radar for me. Good to know that there are some bits and pieces in the game that will make a re-exploration of the system worthwhile... even if they were added 3 years ago. When I heard of "alternate launch sites" I always assumed it referred to desert launch site or island airfield. Then one day I was looking for green monoliths and was like HUHHH??? I love easter eggs
