JoshTheKerbal
A "league" here is defined as a group of people or teams that compete against each other in a specific (E-)sport and gain points in a leaderboard, with a non-random round-robin tournament format called a season. Wanted to do a fighter jet league but someone advised against that.
Flyntwick
Unfortunately, the feasibility of an e-sport boils down to its audience. Not that watching grand plans unfold for mission objectives wouldn't be interesting (I certainly think it would be), but that type of entertainment just isn't as gripping as combat, racing or time-intensive strategy that draws in larger and more profitable crowds. KSP inherently revolves around planning, though, and that just isn't very riveting. Plus, it really takes playing and understanding the game to fully appreciate all of the effort that goes into accomplishing missions. There are a lot of viewers that might find the concept interesting, but that wouldn't have the same contextual frame of reference to hold their attention for very long. Sharky
I don't think that's really a thing in KSP unless if you use BD Armory with a multiplayer mod like Luna multiplayer.

Aside from technical issues of multiplayer, I don’t see why a ladder based dogfighting league wouldn’t work. Used to participate in one back in the dial up days. The guy who advised me to not do a fighter plane league had a valid reason, there are enough leagues (Runway Project, Project Showdown etc.) to satisfy the participants and another one would be unnecessary. That might be true, but it might also be someone trying to monopolize the market. If you think there’s another league close enough to your idea, then yeah, a competing league might not be a good idea. But if you think it’s unique enough, go for it. Bobbejans
i would like to se more competition but only if it happens to different and creative relative to other leauges
GluttonyReaper
I've always imagined something akin to speed-running leagues to be potentially workable for KSP - something like "how fast can you go from an empty VAB to landed on the Mun in real time" while under competitive pressure could be fun. Great idea! I don't see why wouldn't KSP players attempt to speedrun orbit

I think the various low mass challenges would also be good for this. Each season a different planet/moon?

Why not try to do it anyways? There's nothing stopping you from trying your own thing. Plenty of small communities here and there enjoy the same things in parallel. If your concern is that no one would come to play, the actual obstacle is finding the audience that would be interested in the first place. Hi, it's me, the guy who gave the advice and yes, also one of two showrunners for Project: Showdown. My words are being misconstrued here. I merely warned him that he would struggle to find a sustained audience, and would only end up disappointed like his last two attempts at running a combat league went. I even recommended he instead run a small, one-or-two-off challenge for his community or any that are interested. I just again advised that trying to run a full on 'e-sports combat league' and expecting it to grow popular would not end any differently than in the past. Now, you don't know me so I can't blame you for thinking this way, but no, I'm not trying to 'monopolize the market' lol. Our comp is rather beginner unfriendly, in truth, but we have a healthy community size and I am perfectly okay with the current rate of new players we get (extremely small). There's a reason it rarely gets advertised, and when it does it's near-exclusively by community members on their own volition.

The current low mass Eve/Tylo records are super beatable if you've been keeping track of the tech being developed in the ksp optimization community. Probably at least 500kg savings over both the current Eve and Tylo records. One such optimization is to use a completely unguided upper stage. For Eve, the stage can be made aerodynamically stable, and for Tylo, it can be lined up on the ground before lighting the engine and decoupling. None of the current low mass records use this.
